Practice Test Difficulty Level

Hey guys! So I've taken all the TPR'S and a few of the AAMC's and I wanted to know how everyone felt on the difficulty level amongst each TPR, Practice Review MCAT, Cracking the MCAT, Berkeley Test, Kaplan Test and AAMC test so I know what to expect for each practice test. My goal is to have all the practice tests done by the March 24th test. Thanks!

So far I have:
1) AAMC Practice Test 10- medium
2) TPR Practice Test 1- difficult
2) TPR Practice Test 2- medium
3) TPR Practice Test 3- difficult
4) TPR Practice Test 4- difficult
5) TPR Practice Test 5- medium
6) TPR Online Demo Practice Test- medium
7) MCAT Review Online Practice Test- extremely difficult. This was my lowest score 🙁
8) AAMC Practice Test 11- medium

Any thoughts on the difficulty level on these exams or any other ones you have taken?

It's so subjective that I'm afraid you'll get different answers from everyone. My lowest AAMC was #3 while I rocked two of the supposed "hard" ones, fwiw.

I suppose you are correct. I was just wondering because my score was fluctuating a lot across the practice tests I've taken. Thanks though and good luck! =)

Yeah, mine fluctuated a bit too...just focus on your average, it's a better indicator. Good luck with the studying!

If your score is fluctuating, find out why through a thorough post-test analysis. There's a good chance you have some weaknesses which cause your fluctuations.

Plus it depends a bit which range you're fluctuating in. Between 28 and 32 is different than 36 and 40. But, like Sn2ed said, post game analysis is vital.

I agree with post-test analysis. I always review my tests after I've taken them to see what areas need work. I just wanted to know what practice tests people were having more difficulty with because some of them tend to be harder than others.

For the aamc and actual mcat I wouldn't worry about it... the curve is there for a reason... aamc 8 is one of the hardest and I hit a 40 on that while on other aamcs I've ended up getting less wrong with a 37-38...

Does anybody know if the ratio of the subjects they test stays consistent. I've had practice tests where the Biological Sciences section will test 70% Bio and 30% O-Chem and some will test 50% Bio and 50% O-Chem? The same goes for Physics and G-Chem in the Physical Sciences section.

The ratio does NOT stay consistent on the real thing. It's complete random chance and luck of the draw. I would guess the exams are put together randomly as well that's why some exams, like the MCAT I took Jan 28th, will be 90% Biology 10% Organic Chemistry, some will be the other way around. Same goes for physics and chemistry. Although, I find that Physical Sciences tests tend to be a little more balanced.

I found that out of the practice exams that I took (Kaplan, Examkrackers, TPR, and AAMC) only the AAMC was representative of the level of difficulty and especially the kind of questions and material that were on the actual MCAT I took. The practice AAMC exams I took felt a little bit softer than the real MCAT, but I think the fact that I was a lot more focused during the actual exam made up for that. The other tests are useful for preparing you for a testing situation, but I'd say little more than that. I don't think their scores are particularly accurate or useful for gauging your performance on the actual MCAT.

Does anybody know how to get a hold of additional practice tests? I took the TPR course and so I have the TPR Exams and the AAMC's. How do I get a hold of more CBT's?

BR is your next best bet. Keep in mind that it's usually best to save your practice tests for your final month for that last push. In the meantime, continue taking tons of timed practice passages.

How did you end up doing in comparison to all those practice tests? Which one was most representative of your score? If you don't mind sharing..
