Prelim question - can one make an argument for Prelim-Neuro?

Hi folks.
I am selecting some prelim programs. I see that in Texas, there are a number of "prelim-neuro" program. I would assume that these would preferentially go to folks who want to do some kind of Neuro. I have two questions:

1) Going into Rads, can I make an argument for applying to those programs, as if going into Neurorad (Diag or interventional) can always be a possibility. What do you guys think?

2) When applying to say regular prelim and prelim-neuro at the same program, do you actually apply to two programs or one? In other words do you get interviewed separately or is it one interview for both?

Are you sure they involve any neurology months? I believe neuro has specific intern year requirements unlike radiology and I'm pretty sure that just means more medicine wards.

Also there may be unofficial linkages with Neuro programs and you probably just wasted some ERAS money.

Don't try to get fancy with the match. That's how you end up SOAPing.

There is the possibility that this are linked to Neurology residency. To be honest, I do not know and perhaps as you say, it is not a risk worth taking. I don't have the time and bandwidth to contact each PD and ask. So I am going to avoid doing so.

There's like a trillion prelim and ty programs. Just find a normal one

"Med prelim-neuro" indicates a preliminary medicine internship designated for those who match into neurology at that institution. If you think you found an exception, please name it.

No I don't know of any exception. I have lined up over 55 programs in prelim IM to which I will apply. So I have enough without the prelim-Neuro. I just didn't know what they were exactly.

There are peds prelims you can do and even ob/gyn prelims, in addition to the typical TY, medicine and surgery prelims. No neuro prelims though.
