Hello Everyone,

I am a Texas Resident and I plan on applying to a few out of state medical schools next cycle. Texas Medical schools accept some psychology classes in their science gpa ( psyc 320 - sensation perception, psyc 335 - physiological psychology, etc.) My question is will out of state medical schools also accept these courses in the science gpa if TMDSAS accepts them as science?

Also I took psychology of statistics (psyc- 203) for the statistics Pre-req. Texas Medical schools will accept this for their stats requirement, but in regards to my question, will out of state med schools also accept this?

1) AMCAS won't accept those courses because TMDSAS does, they will accept them if the classes fulfill their criteria for inclusion in the BCPM GPA, namely that at least 50% of the coursework involve hard science. They decide this based on the course catalog description.

They sound like they should qualify. There's no reason not to list them as BIO, as AMCAS will change them if they disagree. You have the recourse of appealing if you don't like the change.

2) From what I've noticed, AMCAS schools are less rigid in what they accept to fulfill "college math" or "Statistics" requirements than TMDSAS schools.
