Hello,

I have a BS in Biochemistry that I got from Clemson University 1 year ago. I am applying to pharmacy schools for Fall 2010 at the moment, and my main choice, SCCP (South Carolina College of Pharmacy), has this worksheet for you to fillout courses that you've taken. It is a little confusing because they're getting your transcripts also, but you fillout courses for their pre-requisites.

One of the prerequisites listed is Economics, 3 credits. Well... I didn't take Economics in college. Wow, I'm starting to get really nervous. Am I screwed? I mean I took a lot of social sciences, humanities, statistics, etc (besides the usual bio/chem/math/etc).

Has anyone gone through something like this?

Depends on the school. Some will waive certain class requirements if you're entering with a BS/BA. Others will still want you to take the required pre-reqs, such as economics.

And yes, I ran into your problem last year. Kind of sucks, since that can eliminate some of your choices. Best to talk to each school and see what their policy is.

These two courses give you very practical knowledge and skills. Take them to your own benefits whether or not they will be required eventually.

Spoke to Associate Dean of Admissions. Can't be waived, but can take online course during spring to get credit 🙂

Thanks for help guys. Looks like I'll be learning some macroeconomics.

I'm sitting in macroeconomics lecture right now as I type. What a horribly boring class. The professor just writes on an overhead the whole time. Not to mention I'm in microeconomics concurrently, and (at least right now) the class is practically the same.

Some schools require all pre-reqs to be complete by the spring, otehrs by the summer (esp humanities).

so some may accept you and allow you to take economics/psychology/public speaking during the summer. If you don't want to take it during the spring and the school will allow you, then it may be an option.

I think it's nice for easy humanities classes. It's not like you are going to be in danger of failing economics and since it is relatively simple (for me at least), being condensed in a summer schedule is actually better for it in my opinion. (I thought economics was alright but it kinda dragged when I took it during the spring. I think it would have been better in the summer where it goes at a faster pace. Smae thing with psychology, but I hated that course. I took an arts requirement, art history, online over the summer and am glad I did it that way)
