Sorry if this may have been addressed elsewhere, but if the school's PharmCAS page says that "Applicants must successfully complete ALL course prerequisites by June 1, 2007" and if I have not completed physiology yet and don't plan to by that date does this mean that I'll be disqualifed for admission that year?
So what's this I hear about people getting accepted even before completing the the second Ochem? They just take it there when the enter the school and go for 5 years instead of 4. So when they take it at that institution and pass do they automatically advance to the 1st professional year because they have already been accepted?

Most likely if your school requires you to take A & P and you do not have credit for the course they will not consider you for admission. As for taking Ocehm and being accepted this happens when students plan to apply in the fall or early spring sem and still are taking or planning on taking Ochem ...most likely Ochem2. SO during the spring a student can be accepted by a pharmacy school while he is still currently taking his spring semester ochem2 course. OF course the pharmacy school that accepts the student most likely will make him submit his spring semester grades to make sure he did well enough and did not slack off. Hope that makes sense.

actually like i said in my original post she was accepted and completed ochem at that institution. she was not currently taking it when applying. therefore she was behind a year. i wanted to know whether or not i can get accepted into the school even before finishing the prereqs and just take it there and automatically advance to professional year.

That's a question to ask directly to the school, I think. It is not allowed at my school. Sounds like it was allowed at the school your friend attended. Give your school a call and ask them if they are flexible about it, despite what their Pharmcas page says.

Yup...

and the answer is probably no, especially when it comes to o-chem. What school did she get into? I wanna look into that.

Based on the reading of most posts regarding prereqs, I'd say that this was an exception that would have to have been cleared through the school. Also if it caused her to be a year behind, I can think of only 2 things they would have allowed this for. Either a condition that prevented her from taking it during the period accomodated by the schools deadline (illness/familial issues/etc) Or she requested/received deferred admission, which basically holds her spot for usually up to one year. Deferrals are also rare and must be cleared by the school before attempting. In most cases being accepted is conditional on finishing/passing all prereqs by matriculation. If they are not taken/passed usually there are plenty of candidates who have met prereqs on the waitlist and the student is dismissed and his/her spot given to someone "more qualified."

You have to finish all the prereqs before the first day of class in pharmacy school. They will admit you even if you haven't finished 2 or 3 classes by the application process, but you still have to find a way to finish those classes before their deadline (summer school, community college, etc. etc.) If you don't, they will withdraw your admissions offer.

so which school is this one? just curious about it. just wanted to know🙂

University of Wyoming won't let you take summer classes to finish your prereqs; you have to have them done by them spring semester to be considered. I had one class left to take in the summer and they rejected me without an interview. Just so you guys don't waste your money applying like I did.

I am finishing Org II this semester... and the Lab this summer - 2 weeks after the final for Organic Lab - I will be a P1 at Pacific... you just have to talk to admissions to make sure its ok.
