Hi:
If any of you have friends in Medical School, can you describe (PBL) Problem Based Learning. I know it can mean deifferent things to different schools. I have a list of schools, can you see if anyone of them has PBL?

I know NorthWestern places a heavy emphasis on PBL.

I think Harvard does as well, but usually you would be able to find that out looking through the website for their curriculum policy or in the US News and World Report Guide. Hint for that: If you don't want to spend the money on the book and can't find it at a library, just go to your local Barnes and Noble or Borders with a notebook and look them up. Hope that helps!

UCLA has PBL they meet for 2 hours on monday and 2 hours on friday. On monday you get a case "a patient comes in with such and such." You try to figure out what the cause is and how to treat. You come up with learning issues things you don't know so you can look them up and come back on friday to dicuss what you've learned. Threw out the week you have lectures that a related to the case and may or may not answer your questions.
