Professor not responding?

I emailed my professor about a week ago to set up a meeting to talk about a LOR, but she hasn't responded. Should I email again, or just show up at office hours? She is not the kind of professor that would just ignore someone, so I'm not sure if my email just didn't get to her.

I would give her until the end of the week to respond; perhaps this has been a busy week for her. If she still does not respond, perhaps you could stop by during her office hours and politely ask if she received your email and try to talk to her about it then. The last thing you want to do is sound pushy when asking for an LOR.

I would also make sure that she is somebody that would definitely write you a positive letter. You should be sure that her silence is not a subtle hint that she doesn't want to write it...

You are an adult, go talk to her in person. If she is hesitant in any way, she might not be a good person to write you a letter.

Office hours would be ideal.

You gotta know that professors get tons of emails daily. It can easily get lost in the inbox. Not to mention having to manage multiple email accounts daily. If you were a past student rather than a current student, it may even be in the junk folder.

I know she is here and well since I know people taking her class this semester. I am guessing the email was just lost or something. I will probably email again or just go into her office, although I wouldn't know how to bring up the topic.

Have you tried turning her off and on again?
