Hello all!

After receiving admissions but declining acceptance (for a variety of reasons), I am looking to apply to programs next cycle.

Given my stats, does anyone have some recommendations for schools I should apply/have a good chance of being accepted at? I'm trying to cast a wide net to increase my chance of acceptance and finding a program that's a good fit. I'm from the southeast but am willing to re-locate.

The hard sciences are not my strongest suit, and I am most interested in working with individuals with disabilities at this point if that's any help 🙂

GPA: 3.55 (re-taking a couple prereqs over the next 6 months)
GRE: pending
Shadowing: 20 in-patient acute rehab, 150 outpatient peds
Volunteer: 50 hours of hippotherapy/therapeutic riding, 150 hours at recreational programming center for individuals with disabilities
(Relevant) Work: semester-long internship at pediatric OT/SLP/OT clinic, 2 summers as a day camp assistant director and counselor at a summer camp, 1 summer as counselor for a recreational day camp for individuals with disabilities
Other: OT club at my college, exec board position in my sorority

Next year I'm trying to get a job as a OT tech, as well as increase shadowing.

Thank you in advance and congrats to everyone accepted to/attending a program in the fall!

Go to programs that offer interviews and look at ut whole application (and not just GRE scores). Some schools that I have looked into that meets this is Chatham, Salus, and Brenau (altho I have heard mixed reviews about this school).
Duquesne, Towson, Shenadoah, and Winston Salem apear to be really good schools too. Thomas Jefferson, and Temple are great programs, but u will eat, breath, and sleep OT at those schools whereas I feel like there should be a balance. Not trying to talk down on those programs, but just know that. They also put a lot of weight on the GRE which bugs me bc that test tells a school nothing about an applicant. Anyway, I've also heard good things about Ohio State...Virginia Commonwealth has a great program too but they also put a lot of weight on the GRE and gpa.... unless things have changed they also only look at the top 150 applicants so if ur GRE isnt out of this world, dont waste ur money there. Sorry that none of these schools are in the southeast. I only researched east coast schools when I applied.

Thank you! I'm definitely looking into Chatham, Salys, and Shenadoah this cycle. Good to know they're interested at the whole application 🙂

For Salus, they let me come for an interview outside of the scheduled date. They seemed very accommodating. I decided to attend Jefferson, but I'd recommend looking into them. The cost isn't too bad compared to a lot of other private schools.
