So, I interviewed at a program about a month ago that i think is my number 2 choice. At the time of my interview there was a little upheaval going on with faculty leaving ( 7 left to be exact), due to a dispute which i still don't clearly understand but that i got the feeling was mainly a power struggle over salaries. Yesterday I sent an email to the program director that interviewed me expressing my interest and letting them know that they would be ranked very highly. I recieved an email in return stating that he no longer works there, ( he was there last month and interviewed me!) but that my email would be forwarded to the new program director. How worried should I be about all this? How much could this effect me as a resident? Could this have any impact on future RRC reviews? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Can you PM me which program it was? I had a program that had some crazy stuff happen last year, but they seem to have recovered. They're my #3, but that wasn't affected by that particular issue.

i'd be very reluctant to rank this program highly. having the PD leave in the middle of a match cycle is NOT a good thing.

Agree with above post. High faculty turnover like that (and the PD leaving in the middle of the match cycle) would make me nervous about this program.

I don't know the ins and outs of your particular situation, but, in general, stuff like you mentioned CAN affect you as a resident, and I'm pretty sure it can have an effect on RRC reviews.

I'd say based on what you're telling, "proceed with caution..."

Please do share which program this is. I would hate to rank a place like that and I am sure everyone else would appreciate the heads up about this situation not only for this application cycle but for future app cycles as well. I would like to think that I would have picked up on this at any interview I attended, but it is easy to hide stuff for one day only I guess. Again, please do share (or PM me if you feel uncomfortable posting that info publicly)
