Hey all!

University of Missouri - Columbia (Mizzou) is my home program, and I just wanted to share my understanding as to why Mizzou is on probation.

It was explained to me by the chair's secretary that the ACGME placed the program on probation 0n 10/6/05 due to a deficiency in clinical instructors, particularly in OB. Although on probation, the program is still accredited, and has hired several new attending in the past few months to immediately correct this. The department may request an earlier review by the ACGME, since the next visit is not scheduled until 11/2007. Additionally, due to the increase in surgical cases they are adding an additional PGY1 position for 2006 (form 4 to 5).

Admittedly, I am biased, but I feel that this is an excellent clinical anesthesia program. There is a good, nonbiased, review of this program written last year by Swaydaa (http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=159701).
