Does anyone know how to convert the percent correct score you get from the practice NBME exam at Prometric to something more useful? I got a percent right for each section. But I have no idea what this means in terms of where I need to be.

Thanks!

i would just buy the $45 nbme pratice exams online and do those. they are pretty accurate in predicting scores, especially if you take it close to your actual test date

I'll probably take the NBME test next week sometime. But I did the prometric today. Is there any way to project that to some kind of USMLE estimation?

It depends

Does it look anything like the NBME score?
You might be able to use the NBME score correlator.

It's just a percent of correct answers. There were 150 questions. The score tells me the percent correct for each of the three sections.

you can dl the 150 free sample qs from usmle site and see if there were your qs.

if they were, those were the easiest set of qs on usmle and not really representative of the level on the real exam

i disagree with this particular statement. in my experience, they were similar in content and complexity to my Step 1 exam. the NBMEs were not particularily more difficult, to me at least.

yes, although you can get the same questions for free, I did the prometric practice test just so I can familiarize myself with how to get there, what the testing conditions will be like, etc... there's something to be said for taking a test in an environment you've been in before, and that in itself is worth the price of admission.

yea imo, those 150 free qs were the easiest, and i think on mine perhaps a about 3-5 qs/block were similar to those qs. but thats just me and my wacky exam which were filled with histo qs
