wasn't this our nurse surgeon general's baby? the "let's review all the PTSD diagnoses and see which ones we can change and save some cash and get my golden bullet statement"

she's investigating her own program and people. and apparently has already thrown one or two under the bus.

"Patricia Murphy, a reporter at KUOW Puget Sound Public Radio, said the Army denied the station’s attempts to obtain information and subsequently denied an appeal. The Army described the Madigan documents as “pre-decisional,” a legal privilege extended to documents that influence new rules and regulations. In a letter to the station, the Army said this designation is meant to “protect the quality of agency decisions by encouraging frank and open discussions of agency policy.”"

this is a story about the initial investigation. pay attention to the middle part-- this was known to multiple madigan commanders and was presented as a "best practice" by Horoho in a briefing she gave to the pentagon:

the walter reed building 18 mess started similarly. several commanders knew about it, one eventually became surgeon general then resigned. the truth (about building 18 or the legitimacy of the PTSD reviews) becomes irrelevant at some point and they just want to make it go away.

stay tuned.

Sigh!!!

Classic army medicine!! Typically, failures are due to a system problem, not on part of any individual. Yet, that is not acceptable. There must always be a sacrificial lamb and somebody must always be at fault whenever it is all said and done. Mark my words, the PTSD "scandal" at MAMC is just the tip of the iceberg!! Mark my words, more probes are coming at other places. I am glad that I got out before it all came to fruition

Army Psychiatrist is probably one of the worst jobs in all of medicine these days.

At my old post, Army Psychiatry did not see spouses and referred most of the soldiers off post, so I am not sure exactly what they did??

A lot of paperwork and admin crap. They see only AD at my MTF. I am at a high tempo deployment base. A lot of these guys and gals have had multiple deployments over the last 5 years or so. Most if not all who are referred to my subspecialty clinic have a diagnosis of TBI or PTSD. They are up to their eyeballs in those types of patients.
