Hi!

i posted this in the osteopathic thread before i realized there was a med business thread..so sorry for the duplicate if you are reading this! I will most likely be attending tucom next year and i've always been interested in getting an MPH or MHA degree. TUCOM does not have a dual degree program as of yet. I was speaking to a med student friend of mine who said that if you do a residency affiliated with a university, they will most likely pay for your education to get the master's either during your residency or after. i was wondering if anyone knows of someone doing this? i'd prefer this way of getting the MPH so i can avoid some additional loans can you take a break during your residency to study for your master's? thanks for any help! 🙂

I don't know much about this but I have heard of creating your own joint program between two schools. There was an instance where one med school did not offer the MD/PhD but a PI from a university in a neighboring city agreed to work with the medical school to set up this joint degree arrangement for a particular student. I have also come across students at my school of public health who are taking a year away from medical school curriculuum and are actually getting their MDs elsewhere. But the idea of getting your MPH/MHA during residency sounds very possible.

Did you apply to NSUCOM? They have a DO/MPH program where you can take the MPH classes for free.

noo i didn't apply to nsucom..i applied for entry into fall 2006 and was given early acceptance at tucom for fall 2007..i accepted it but at the time i was already in the process of filling out aacomas again (i only found out a month ago) the only other school i am going for this year is ccom. that's cool that nsu lets u take those classes for free. maybe i can get tucom to have a joint program with their mph school. 🙂 thanks for the tip!
