I know students have been accepted with the condition of completing a course before the fall semester starts. My question is I have every pre-req completed except organic chemistry (mainly a schedule conflict with full time work). I know this is a very important class.

Next year I should have orgo 1 completed in the fall, and then part 2 in the spring. Do you think that schools would do a conditional acceptance with that course? I want to apply next year.

thanks,

Yes. I'm sure there's a lot of people who are conditionally accepted and still need to complete some prereqs. They will see ur fall Orgo1 grade since you will have to do an academic update. So make sure you do well in that class.

Yes you can apply, but I know some schools will not consider your application complete until Organic 1 is completed. Once your grades are updated, then the ADCOM will review your application. Your acceptance would then be conditional on finishing Organic 2.

If the school does interviews in the Spring you should definitely be fine. If they do them in the Fall, I still wouldn't be too worried.

I think most of us were conditionally accepted since the average student doesn't actually have all of his pre-reqs done before even applying to pharmacy school. The big exception to this would be the people finishing up their bachelors who are applying their senior year.

A classmate took Organic I&II over the summer prior to matriculation, and had a conditional acceptance in hand in March prior to even starting the courses. It's doable. 🙂

Ok, thanks for the replies. So, i should fill out all the pharmcas info and apply and then when the semester ends (for the organic 1) update the pharmcas transcripts, or just wait until the semester is over and then apply? i wanted to apply earlier but i guess it would not do any good.

I am new to the whole pharmcas application process etc...

Thanks for your input,

That would have been a rough summer.😱

There have been threads on this topic, discussing the pros and cons of summer Orgo.

I personally enjoyed it, because I was able to focus solely on that class and that class alone. Not to mention there were only 8 of us in lecture and lab, so we had a lot of leeway for clarification with the prof.

But I think you'll be fine with your plan. 😉

definitely apply early and then update your application later. as mentioned, some schools might offer you an interview anyway w/o seeing your orgo grade. and if you wait until the last minute/after the semester is over, it will take a lot longer for pharmcas to process your application and send it out to schools.

Yes, apply as early as possible. Some schools will invite you before they see your Ochem 1 grade, and some won't until you update your grades on Pharmcas. After the update Pharmcas will let the school know, and they they will make their decision to invite you to an interview.

Like someone else said the longer you wait the less spots there will be in school, if they operate on rolling admissions, so applying early is the best option.

thanks for everyones help.

I would love to take orgo over the summer but they dont offer it.
