I was just wondering if any of you have taken kaplan full lenth 6-9. Do you guys think they are too difficult . My score had up ward trend in kaplan test 1 through 5. Last summer I took kaplan and I started with 14 on diagnostic and had a 26 on test 5.
This time I started with 17 on diagnostic and I just got a 14 on test 8.which is same as my diagnostic score from last summer.
I guess I will be withdrawing from april mcaters club soon and will join the august one.
This is just so disappointing and heart breaking. <img border="0" alt="[Pity]" title="" src="graemlins/pity.gif" />

Don't give up so quickly! :) The MCAT preparation process is definitely a grueling one with lots of stress and lots of moments where you start doubting yourself. As much as I disliked Kaplan, it did help. Most people who took the course scored better on the actual exam than the Kaplan full-length tests. Just keep on plugging away, and you'll get results! Perserverance is the key!

I been told if approx. 7-8 weeks before the test date, if you are scoring 7 or above on each section, you'll be on target for a 30. That's if your're consistently studying till the week before the test date. The science sections' score will eventually increase, it's verbal that should be the main focus. Besides, doing well on the verbal section should also improve your other science section. :p :p :p

mmm I guess thats good news for me.
Ive been trying not to pay attention to the score Ive been receiving, but how many questions Im answering right on the full lengths and just how comfortable I am with the material. I took full length #2 this past weekend and felt better about the physical sciences section this time around. I got like 9 more questions right this time around, but my section score dropped to a 7 from an 8.

But on the score thing, ive been at 7 in almost all the sections except for bio which I can't seem to get over 6, but Im currently taking biology II and moll cell bio so Im still learning, just need to get ahead of the class soon.

Come on you guys , nobody here took kaplan full length #6 through 9?????

The same thing happened to me last year, optimistic. My scores went down for the last few practice tests. But I took the last 3 AAMC tests pretty close to the test date and I did really well on those (actually better than the real thing, around 29 and 30) so I would say that those tests would be a much better indicator of how you are doing.

I took the test drive last weekend and got a 22..6.8.8. Then i looked and I got 80% correct in verbal, only 9 wrong and ~36 right. I have a feeling that kaplan's scaling is a little screwy.

btw I got 9,9,9 on the real thing, around 30 on the aamc tests and crazy ranges for Kaplan tests (15 to 28 or something, but I'm not sure, it was different every time)

Iam also hoping that its the tests and not me. Kaplan people told me that these are farily new exams . so Iam just thinking may be they dont have big enough sample of students to set the proper grading scale. who knows what the problem is but iam pretty sure that I know more today then I did last summer before I started studying for mcat although my scores are not showing that.
I think I will try taking aamc during spring break.
Thanks for the feedback.

Hey all..

I got my diag..20..then 26 (8 8 10) on the first full length....I havea question for y'all. Is anyone doing the kaplan verbal reasoning tests? I've been getting consistently 55 out of 65 (or higher) on these tests, and am wondering what sort of verbal score that would be equivalent to..thanks in advance..

p.s. let's keep these posts (from now on) in the ULTIMATE KAPLAN REVIEW 2002 THREAD I started a while back..I'll bump it back up, but it owuld be helpful to keep all of these posts on one thread.

thanks!

Hey Optimistic.
You better change your name girl, you gotta be more optimistic!! I know that MCAt is grueling, esp Kaplan. But we have to go into it with the right mind set. The same obstacles you face right now, will be faced by you in Aug. My suggestion is to stick with it. If you need emperical info, here it is:
I spoke to a Kaplan prof the other day who mentioned that Kaplan is usually a bit more tough than the actual MCAT, and the AAMC is a bit EASIER than the actual MCAT. The prof mentioned that we should try AAMC 4 and 5, and also the kaplan tests, and the REAL score we may get is an average b/w those two. She said that this might be the best way to approximate your score. In any case, my suggestion to you is to NOT do it in Aug. With the last AMCAS crap, rolling admissions, a late MCAT score is the last thing you need. Know what i mean?

In any case, keep that chin up! Only 54 more days!

:)
