When you have someone write you a letter of recommendation, who are you telling them to address the letter to? (To Whom it may concern??)

Thanks!

"Dear Members of the Admissions Committee" works.

I think it depends. If the letter writer is writing individual letters to each school, then you could have them address it simply to the Admissions Committee. Some schools have gridded rec letter forms in which it is not necessary to address it to anyone.

I don't think "To Whom it may concern " is appropriate in this case.

Good luck!

Thank you for your help. I didn't think I should use To Whom it May Concern, but wasn't sure what else to use. Thanks again.

I always use "Dear Admissions Committee Members:"

"Dear AdCom Mems."

"I'm writin' in response to 1 dope ass mo fo applicant that you would be brain dead to turn down..."

😀

quick question -

i asked a guy to write a recommendation for me and he kindly agreed... but, then he asked me since he's never written a letter of rec before, what should i include in it and what type of format?

Does anyone know? I would greatly appreciate any help on this ... also, should he include some biography on himself?

thanks,

Med schools like gridded formats, for the most part. However, if the letter-writer does not have access to that, it should be okay. He should briefly mention who he is and whether or not he has had interaction with pre-meds.

This is what UC Berkeley suggests letter-writers should talk discuss.

Good luck!
