I sent in the worksheet to Pacific U to have my coursework evaluated a few weeks ago. How long has it typically taken to hear back from them? Thanks!

Carey-

I sent mine in five or six months ago and I didn't get a response for probably two weeks or so. I know right now they are a little bit in transition- Kent Steinmetz recently left and Jon-Erik Larsen (Director of Admissions) is currently out of town. Some of this might be slowing up the process. If it has been a few weeks, feel free to call or email them to check on it, especially if it is urgent for you to know the results. When I emailed to ask about mine, they emailed the results so I wouldn't have to wait for the mail to come.

As Rubin said - Things are busy right now - Janelle is handling the SOP's affairs right now. I found that it is best to send her an email - she is really quick about responding.

The Evaluation sheet is good to get in, because it shows you & Pacific where you stand. However, I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

Somethings you can do right now to prepare:

1. Get your LORs in the works. Notify the people you want to write them - inform them that the process is different than for PharmCAS. That they will have a worksheet to fill out in addition to the actual letter
2. Order official transcripts to be mailed to YOU - make sure they have the Registrars seal - and that they remain sealed. You will need to mail them along with LORs & your App fee (if you dont pay online)
3. Start prepping the essays. Last year they had 2 - Why pharmacy and what are your prioriites. Additionally - if you are reapplying, there is a third essay specifically for you to showcase what you have done to improve your chances at pharmacy school. There is a 4th essay as well, for anything else you would like to explain (I talked about my GPA before the military and the GPA after).
4. Explore your thoughts on pharmacy. Especially why you want to be a Doctor of Pharmacy - Why Pacific.

Ok - soak that in for a bit - and then get to work!!! The Application will be available August 1st

Thank you so much! I did have a question about transcripts then...I was under the impression that they should be sent directly from the school to pharmcas or whatever school we are applying to. Just wondering why you specifically mentioned they should come from the applicant.

Yea I heard about that... LORs should be sent directly to the school... plus the Pharmcas

Pacific University does not participate in Pharmcas - at least not yet anyway. Last year - you filled out the online application - however, your LORs and official transcripts were sent in a single package from you to the school. All contents were individually sealed - either by the person writing the LOR or by the registrar providing the transcript.

If you want to exponentially increase your chances, make sure your application is done and sent in by August 2nd. 🙂 If you're taking above's advice, then your app should be ready to go the first day the app is out. All that's left is to fill in your basic info.

is the essays for PacificU going to be the same as last years?
