So the place where I'm registered to take the test on 9/1 has been rumored to distribute small white boards (the dry-erase boards) instead of normal white paper, according to a couple of my friends who took other exams (not the MCAT) at the testing center. My friends didn't like it at all and I can imagine why (the smudges will not totally erase after you've used it for a while).

Am I allowed to demand for white paper and will the proctors even have white paper with them? Basically, are the proctors required to have pencil and white paper and give them out if the examinees demand for it?

You should call them to ask just to be sure. You can also likely ask them if there is anyway they are even permitted to give you paper and pencil.

Dry erase boards are also a great way to go green. You can easily write and erase information, so there is no need to use up valuable pieces of paper.

That being said...it sounds a little ridiculous to be handing out dry erase boards for such an important standardized test. Every test taker should have the same/similar conditions (within reason) to be fair. I guess we can't help the occasional next door aerobics/spinning class playing loud music. 😛

man i love white boards, that would be so friggan cool. Better than paper ripping while writing down stuff xD Although paper would be more what im used to

white boards will not "wipe" completely after using it continuously for hours. So by the time you get to the BS section, you may have to deal with smudges and smears on the whiteboard from previous erasing. Also, you waste more time when you erase the whiteboard compared to just writing on a new piece of paper.

They are also murder for lefties who smudge over what they just wrote. I called all the test centers I was considering to make sure I wouldn't have to deal with that.
