Question about thank you notes.

For those who have interviewed, who have you been sending the thank you card to, the actual person who interviewed you or just the admissions staff? Also, did you send thank you notes on personal stationary or just some generic card? Thanks.

I sent a thank you note to each interviewer and the tour guide if he/she was part of the admissions staff (einstein, gw, hahnemann.) I sent the notes on my alma mater's stationary that I had remaining from graduation.

My lazy ass has been sending thank you e-mails. Not sure if this is a bad thing, possibly showing laziness. yet all my emails are sent the following day and include something I learned personal about the person and/or our interview discussion.

you know, this could explain why both schools that replied put me on the wait-list. They're just 'Waiting' to see if I follow up with a real thank-you note. 😉

I asked our premed advisor and he said send typed letters on generic bond paper to the adcoms w/ attention to your interviewer. He said notes smaller then 8 1/2 X 11 get lost in your file. Just my two cents.

You guys are funny...a freaking thank you letter getting lost in your file??? oh jeez....a thank you letter is not going to break or make you...just get over it!!!!

A thank you letter is meant for ONE REASON!!! NOT TO GET ADMISSION TO a school....to (get this folks!) thank your interviewer for his/her time!!! 🙄 🙄 🙄

Get over the whole issue about "will it get lost in my file or will it be included"

do it as a gesture of good will and to actually thank your interviewer.

i agree with scooby completely. i have been on several interviews, and the interviewers usually have a little form that they fill out and send in after the interview is complete. by the time they get your letter, your status is out of their hands. of course, the exception is when you interview with the dean or someone else who states he or she is on the admissions committee.
