Just remembered that the summer between my senior year high school and freshman year in college I decided to take a 1 month 4-credit chemistry course at a local CC. The reason I did so was b/c I did not take AP Chem in HS and I wanted a primer for the notoriously hard course at my college. I got an A in the course at the CC, but I got A-/B+'s in chem 1 & 2 at college (ivy undergrad) the following year.
I'm wondering if this is going to look weird, especially b/c it'll look like I was taking chemistry twice and the second time I did not get an A (albeit my actual undergrad was much harder than a community college...). Should I mention somewhere on my app why I took this course? For the reasons that I had not taken anything more than sophomore year chemistry and I wanted to make sure I was prepared going in?
Or, am I just overthinking this? I realized this might be a good thing b/c it's 4 credits of a 4.0 that are being factored into my overall GPA. I'm not looking for advice as to what to do since I know I'm required to submit all transcripts; just want to know how this will affect me.
Any and all insight appreciated. Thanks!
