has anyone heard of a case in which a 2nd year med school student or resident left the program and started the anesthesiology assistant or physician assistant program?? if so can you please share the situation, process, and outcomes?

I don't think anyone would do that unless they failed out. It's ridiculous for a RESIDENT to go to AA or PA school. Perhaps if you explain your situation, or your "friend's" situation, we could help.

Either one of those scenarios would result in me calling the person stupid particularly the resident.

Why the hell would someone in med school drop out for no reason, just to become a mid-level practicioner? It would be even more ridiculous, rather borderline insane, for a resident to up and leave for PA school after investing all the time, money, and effort needed to earn their MD or DO.
