We all know the intense nature of the medical school curriculum. My question is what score in percentage points constitutes a good score in medical school. i.e. A course in anatomy or biochemistry or histology....Thanks guys.

This question came up a few weeks back, and met with a lot of negative responses. Use of the term "good" in and of itself is problematic and guarantees you will not get the answer you seek. (1) it is impossible to say because grades, grading system, class averages and the like are not the same across schools. (2) Doing the best you are capable of is always "good", regardless of where that puts you in terms of class rank. (3) Different personal goals may suggest different thresholds for good. Some folks would consider it good to get a certain letter grade, others to be above average, others might only consider it good only if it keeps then in honors. (4) The Step 1 is going to be the real determinator of success in the basic science years, and so what you get in those classes -- good or bad, is going to be dwarfed by your USMLE score regardless of how you do. (It's not like a GPA and MCAT relationship -- it's more like a blue whale and mouse relationship). You could ace all your med school classes, but if you tank the USMLE Step 1, you didn't learn the stuff "good" enough. (5) if the notion is that once you achieve a certian threshold you can ease up, because you are already doing "good", that's probably a bad approach.

Thus you really just want to go into it trying to do the best you can. However things pan out after that has to be "good" enough.

right now, I'll be doing good if I score over the average on this block of exams. some people are ALWAYS studying, and I just hope I'm not gonna be underprepared.
