Hi,

If you are a current resident or are working in the field I would love to hear your inputs on whether doing an accredited drug information PGY-2 is more favorable than a non-accredited PGY-1. While I know of individuals who have done a non-accredited PGY-1 and received great job offer, most institutions seem to say that they prefer a PGY-2 completion.

The biggest thing about non-accredited PGY1's is that they won't let you qualify for BCPS (or any BPS accreditation, not that there is a DI one) or for an accredited PGY2. If you are already completing an accredited PGY1, know that most unaccredited programs in speciality areas (like DI) are actually PGY1 or PGY2 programs because they don't care if you have had a PGY1 yet or not.

I also posted a question asking about this scenario before stumbling on this thread. Anyone else have any feedback?
