Hi all!
I'm new to this forum and i have a quick question about legal rights.
My cousin purchased a "photocopied" version of the study guide for the PCAT exam by Dr. Collin because someone told him that it was really good, so he bought the cheapest one he can find.
He has never seen the original study guide; therefore he has no idea that it was actually copyrighted, he thought it was just a bunch of practice exams. He also saw a picture on Amazon showing the study guide as a "packet of papers", so he continued on with his studies and finished the exam.
Upon completion, he no longer need the packets so he resold them to someone else on EBay. He talked to me about this 2-3 days ago and I told him that it was illegal to sell because it was actually copyrighted; he freaked.
So we did a research online and it seems that upon purchasing the original packet, a person has to signed an agreement saying that they will not photocopy the original material upon purchasing it.
Since that was the case and my friend neither purchased nor signed the agreement form. He did not participate in making photocopies of the original, but he DID participated in passing an illegal copy around.
Should my cousin contact Dr. Collins regarding this issue? or is he just being too paranoid because he's not the one responsible for the signature as well as the photocopies.
