I have always thought that all 50 states accept COMLEX I, II, and II instead of USMLE I, II, and III for licensure but I just went to the Illinois website and it says they only accept USMLE without mentioning COMLEX! http://www.idfpr.com/dpr/WHO/med.asp

Is this true? If so I need to know soon so I don't rank IL Programs (even IL MD/DO programs!)

Examination Requirements
The current examinations required for licensure as a physician in Illinois
are either:

Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3 of the United States Medical Licensing
Examination (USMLE)

OR

Part I, Part II, and Part III of the examinations of the National Board of
Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME)

OR

Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada examination (LMCC)

However, if you have completed one of the following combinations of
NBME, FLEX, and USMLE examination parts
with scores acceptable to
Illinois
, you can satisfy the examination requirement by having the
appropriate testing body send your scores to the Illinois Department of

Financial and Professional Regulation.

Thanks! That's a relief! I just don't know why on page 2 they say this and don't mention COMLEX here:

USMLE Steps 1, 2, and 3, must be successfully completed within a seven-year period. This seven-year period begins
when an applicant passes the first Step, either Step 1 or Step 2. If all USMLE Steps are not successfully completed
within seven (7) years of passing the first Step, credit for any Step passed shall be forfeited.
Any applicant for licensure who has been unsuccessful in five (5) examinations (any Component, Part or Step of the
examinations accepted by the Department), conducted in this State or any other jurisdiction shall be deemed ineligible
for further examination until receipt of proof that the applicant has completed, subsequent to his/her fifth failure,
evidence of further formal professional study or training in an accredited institution.
