Like I said, I shouldn't have made the joke again as we already went through this when he made the post late last year. Nonetheless, I am pissed that the tweet serves to represent our specialty. Lambasting him here seems effective. As I hate Twitter, and the twats that tweet, I don't see how I can fix the problem by becoming a part of it.

Anonymously discussing ideas is very reasonable, and indeed NECESSARY in a system with such a power asymmetry.

…but let’s not pretend that those who anonymously snicker about individuals are the heroes in this story. They are, in fact, never the heroes.

in hindsight, I should not have made the joke. I don't mean to disparage that individual. It was more in response to people mentioning that certain individuals have little self awareness. We see it all the time on med twitter. People posting things that are just downright rude or inappropriate. why i don't have twitter or any social media for that matter. it

We're "done" with manels?

I love living in the post-sexist, post-racist, social equality utopia that is America in 2022.

What should we tackle next? Curing cancer? Terraforming Mars? Making Daylight Savings Time permanent?

The hits keep coming. If your crap study shows bias you publish saying your specialty is bad. If your crap study shows no bias you publish saying your specialty is good, but still say there is bias you just couldn’t find but you known is there…

She should’ve said patient satisfaction scores are biased against oppressed groups and we should get rid of them! Press Ganey is part of the the tyrannical patriarchy! Who are the male patients to judge their female doctors?!?!

Quite the armamentarium of writing apparatuses required for residents at Case. I'd need shoulder surgery.
Literally the first thing I noticed. I'm shocked Dan hasn't corrected the inefficiency of choosing between pen colors in one's pocket. Hours per day wasted.

Male or female, one thing is clear. We all need to be busier in the clinic.

Conclusion is to look harder!

Great meme. Could be great like those kim yung un supervising military memes. Only he can fix!
When I last met up with Dan a couple years ago, he actually had a lot of helpful time saving tips like peeing in the sink while you brush your teeth. Guy has this down to an art.

So I guess certain employees can skip the UDS At Case.

I am going to keep my mouth shut on this one and just say that I have never heard of him.

not sure that I have heard his name before either, but looks like he is lead of the GU program there. Good gig to be chair there I bet, Moffit is a MACHINE. never been there but I gather that it's a pretty large enterprise.

often when the hire is an internal person for chair, it is someone that is universally liked and respected.

looking at his Google Scholar, a lot of high impact lab work. Looks like he has a lab too. Alot of the lab people who get hired as chair aren't exactly house hold names. how many of us knew who Terrence Williams was, for example, before City of Hope hired him as chair?

Also just 7 years out from residency which is pretty cool.

It's impressive any time someone becomes chairman of a big name cancer center just 7 years out of training. Time to get a new twitter picture...

Jeez. Maybe I should be looking for a throne to sit on haha.

smells like desperation

I don't know about you, but I have ZERO aspirations of being a chair. The amount of money I would need to take on that pile of **** is probably orders of magnitude higher than the 7-figure salary they would offer.

True some of them easily are in the 7 fig range like Lou potters.

But you are right. You have to say all the Politically correct things and at the end of the day if you’re a man you’ll probably get Me Too’d but a colleague or a subordinate or caught saying something on Twitter that will buy you a kick in the ass.

I'll take busy partner in PP over that, any day of the week, considering either will probably be hard to get into these days unless you've been out awhile and are in the right place at the right time

Maybe this will be the new stepping stone to PP partnership.

“You see, we only hire former chairs”

Worked out well for Jay L. Perfect transition after he became Medicare eligible

Isn’t his wife a peds radonc?

I would watch that reality show - academic chairs retire to join community practices as generalists. Exclusion criteria include graduating residency after 1992.

Picture it: the confused look on some old white dude's face, puttering around the clinic in his knit sweater, grease pencil in one hand, chain with a magnet in the other, whispering about shadows and simulators. A nurse gently takes him by the elbow and leads him back into his office. He is inadvertently given a QA sheet to sign from a prostate VMAT case and experiences severe angina when reading the plan MU number.

"Anachronistic Isocenter", coming this summer on NBC.
