Sorry if this is a repost, I've read alot of the posts on salaries but none that really addresses raises. Everyone says that while the pharmacists' salaries start high, there really isn't any increases in salary. Is this true? What's the average increase in salary for pharmacists in retail settings? Does it even match inflation or what?

A friend of mine (retail pharmacist) told me that her yearly salary went up about 5K last year. I think it's been around that for the past several years.

I can tell you right off the bat that it will be at least 3% raise to match the inflation. From my own experience, lowest raise was 3% and highest was 9%.

Over 30 years, largest raise was 13.5% - smallest was 0%, annually.

Our raises are based on what's the going rate in the area. Mine was around 6k this year.

thanks for the responses...

i got another question, if youre starting 100k, then its not unrealistic to reach 150k just being a retail pharmacist without becoming a manager?

The answer is probably, but who knows. If you work for a major chain, right now the raises are between 3%-5% per year. You do the math.....

I think I have missed a basic part of reasoning here - but can someone explain why the average pharmacist pay is still approx. 100 k - even though every pharmacist is getting 3 to 5K more per year??? Shouldn't the average this year be around 3 to 5 % higher than last year???
