I've only been logging in to check the release thread and see if I had missed something. I should probably stop that. It just makes me nervous.
  me too, but i'm also thinking i should stop doing that.

You know you're a mom when this makes you more excited than anything in a really long time.

My almost 3 year old went pee on the potty!!!!!!! And it was all her idea! Woohoo!!! Please, please, please let her finally get it. I was starting to think she'd be wearing diapers in kindergarten.

Sweet, they're doing it in Chicago next year. Can you tell us more about it, PW? Did you meet any of the SDNers that we know there?

Stupid Gen Chem! Why does it have to be in the PS section? I miss like 2-3 physics questions, 12-13 gen chem on AAMC 4R for a 10 😡 Lowest I've gotten.
haha, i'd gladly take all your gen chem questions and give you a few of my physics questions. 🙂 let's trade!

hopefully i'll never have to worry about it again, though.

Hey randomites!

I'm back after going to my little sister's high school graduation. Man, do I feel old. She was born when I was a freshman in HS, and now she's done!!

But I'm awfully proud of her. She was valedictorian! 😀

Now that's something I can afford, especially since it's an hour's drive 🙂!

Too funny!!!

I took my mdapps link down a little while ago. I got a little nervous about it being too identifying. It's one thing to have pics of my baby up, but it's really obvious where I live and go to school from my mdapps and I didn't want all the information connected to my kids. I'm so paranoid. 🙁

I am totally unlisted anywhere, plus we have a Vonage number, so I really don't care if people have an idea of who I am or roundabouts where I live. As long as they don't get my SS or Credit card #'s I'm ok. I'll probably be a little more discreet once I make it to med school.

MM congrats 4 your sister!! My lil sis was born about a week before I graduated from high school--I was just looking at the pictures from my ceremony and it's so cute b/c she's just a little tiny newborn 😍 When I go to her graduation that will be a VERY VERY scary thing.......

That's awesome. What is she going to do now?

Wow, we have a lot of randomite valedictorians! I was class valedictorian too, and it's one of those things that when you run into people from high school again, they're like, "hey, Q, I remember you; you were the class valedictorian." It's totally surreal that people still remember stuff like that after fifteen years. 😛

Edit: I forgot to mention that one of my HS teachers warned me that many kids who were HS class valedictorian ended up getting burnt out and never accomplished anything more in their lives. I ought to look him up and tell him what I've been up to these past few years. :meanie:

Our valedictorian is a college dropout but the salutatorian I think got his B.S. My 15th reunion is a few years away, I'm sure I'll find out then. I haven't seen anyone since I stepped off the graduation stage anyway, just keeping up with word of mouth.

I think the instant freedom college brings leads to a lot of academic downfall.

Ok all... I think I have a sec. Things have been going a mile a minute since the move. The conference was great. Meg, Mushy and MM, I spent most (ok, all) of my time with jlw. She mentioned quite a few people, but I remember you 3 in particular...oh yeah, and Q too.

Some of the sessions were better than others - which is usually the case with any type of conference. I can't say I was overwhelmed with the keynote speaker though...he wasn't a bore by ANY stretch, I just found some of the other sessions more interesting. BTW, the keynote was Ken Iserson, MD. I found the DO sessions incredibly facinating.

Gee, the thing just ended this morning, but I can't recall much. 🙄 It was chocked full of info. 😱

Thanks for the conference report, it sounds fab! I'm so glad I'll be able to go next year!

You randomites are smart cookies, I knew it!

My sis is starting at a small LAC this fall. She's currently planning on studying English or Poli Sci or, possibly, history. (If she goes for English, we'll be three for three in the family! My other sister double majored in English and psych.)

AWESOME!!!!

JLW is REALLY cool to hang out with. I spent one afternoon with her at the Illinois Med school fair and I felt like I spent four years in college with her!

Anyway, I'm glad you had a great time. I ended up doing a family vacation this weekend with my husband, brother, and parents - an ongoing family tradition for 10 years now is going to see Jimmy Buffett in Wisconsin. Since it was paid for by my folks, I couldn't say no!

Next year should be a blast, especially for Chi-town! And I'll definitely be needing the conference this time next year to prepare for my (hopefully) upcoming interviews.

But ppl who called the MCAT offices after the announcement heard that it's still 12th/13th...

I know people are hoping for an online early score release, but as sadistic as the AAMC are, it wouldn't suprise me to see them wait until the 20th!

One ray of sunshine for taking it CBT next year!

I very nearly flunked out my first semester of college. Second semester of college I settled down quite a bit and did a lot better, but still not very good. I ended up transferring the summer after that year, which gave me a very needed fresh start - I quit drinking and totally settled down and from then on did fine.

Edit: Echo the hugs to those folks waiting for their MCAT scores! It is an agonizing wait!

Oh yes...and I am certain you will understand this: "bitch, please!"

So.... my family and I do this Jimmy Buffett weekend in Wisconsin where we stay at a Country Inns and Suites that has an invitation-only weekend package and then go to the concert Saturday night. The hotel package inlcudes luau with free margaritas/beer/soda from Friday at 3pm to Saturday night at midnight, with 2 night hotel stay included in the price (along with free tropical goodies, etc.).

Four years ago i was seriously involved with a guy who was a big fan of Buffett and we stayed with my parents (separate rooms!) for the party. We've since broken up and I met my husband and now it's my husband, brother, parents and several of my parents friends that go, but this year I woke up this morning, bed-head and all - in my jammies - to walk down to the continental breakfast for some coffee and food to help the hangover. As soon as my door shut, my ex-boyfriend walked right out of the room across from us!

Talk about an awkward moment! He gave me a hug at the precise moment my husband walked out of the room, so I had to introduce them and it was very weird.

Anyway, it was one of those out-of-the-blue experiences, and I'm glad to say my bedhead wasn't too bad 😉
