"the pups" lol! chows are so cute--i've known a couple people with chows and they just seem like such sweet dogs

That's my chow's "cube" in my avatar. They are actually known for being quite aggressive. Ours is not. She is amazing with kids. But, I always say that there is a first time for everything so I don't let kids mess around with either of our dogs (neither of whom have ever hurt anything) unsupervised.

I really need to get my BP down. It is lower than it has been in the last couple of years. 134/82. I ran 120/70 without fail until it just went nutty. I started getting migraines and one time I took it and it was 160/106. Ugh.

The stress got horrible and so did my BP. I don't add salt, I am overweight, I don't smoke or drink, bad genetics also...ugh. 😡

Yikes, that 160/106 is pretty high! Are you seeing a doctor about it?

I have bad genetics too. My mom had blood pressure problems during pregnancy and my dad has high blood pressure. I had really bad blood pressure problems during both of my pregnancies. I had to be on medication the entire time and had to deliver both my girls when they just couldn't control it anymore. My baby is 9.5 months old now and my blood pressure is just getting back to normal from the pregnancy. I have a feeling I'll need to be on medication again as I get older. 🙁

Only once was it that high. I had been having headaches (like 8 years ago) and I decided to check my BP during one of them...that is when I recorded the really high one.

Now, it typically runs anywhere in the high 130s over anywhere in the 80s.

I don't want to go on meds for it. I am on enough meds. Ugh.

My sister also had pre-eclampsia (totally bad spelling) and was put on meds. I am concerned about it dropping too low. My doc said that if I get pregnant with it this high then she will insist on meds. In that case, I will agree without a problem.

Ahh, okay - yeah my doctor didn't make me take the meds once I was in the 130s/80s postpartum.

My blood pressure problem in pregnancy wasn't typical pre-eclampsia. My blood pressure was up by 8 weeks along both times which is much too early for PE and I didn't have any of the other symptoms of PE. My BP would just keep going up and up and up as the pregnancy progressed. I went on meds for it by 18 weeks and they had to keep increasing the dosage and adding other medications until it got to the point where I was maxed out on what I could take (and my BP was still 170/120). That's the point where they delivered me both times (earlier the second time around than the first). I also had other PE symptoms at that point so it did turn into PE at the end both times.

Oddly enough my blood pressure goes up if I take birth control pills with estrogen - I'm fine on the progestin-only pills. So I think my body has some sort of estrogen issue, but it's strange because I haven't been able to find much information about this possibility.

I am considering going off of the pill b/c of that and just using some other means. Does it make that much of a difference in the numbers?

I don't know if it would make a difference for everyone - only if they have whatever problem I have with them.

My BP normally runs 100/70. When I went on birth control pills my BP went up to 140/100. It took 3 months to get back to normal after I stopped them.

No, really it is just slightly better than a dead guy's. I mean, I don't even think that I would make it in somewhere in the Carib right now.

I will probably apply in 2008.

Well PW - I am right there with you. I might make the cut off of bringing my gpa per AACOMAS next year to a hovering 3.0 🙁 Then I'm going to try my luck. All A's from here on out. Yep. No more 2.4 girl. 😀

Stay positive, we'll get there 😀

134/82 is fine. I don't believe in all this "pre-hypertension" garbage. If you have a totally normal sugar now they call you "pre-diabetic."

My BP is so low. 80s-90s/50s-60s.

Oh yikes!! I have only had a few migraines in my life fortunately! I can't imagine having one on a big day like that.

I don't know about the pill and HTN but the pill definitely contributes to migraines. I had to go off the pill because the few migraines I had were on the pill. (Esp. if you get them during the placebo week).

Today has been relatively productive bio, bio and more bio. Tonight is for phys. My allergies have been acting up alot which is never good. But in less that two weeks I would have been finished with Yr 1 cape yay! Btw anyone knows what alpha-1-antitrypsin is used for?
