No thanks. 😀 I am at a loss though. This is how I felt when I finished the LOTR trilogy. I thought, what am I supposed to do with myself now? At least this is just temporary. I think the LOTR books were even more of a commitment than this book has been.
 I felt the same way and also with Harry Potter 😳

Good luck with the move. I have moved tons of times but usually only one or two rooms of furniture. Now I'm going to have a TON of junk to move. I think I'll stay put for a little. At least i HOPE so 🙁

Oh great!

I think we're safe until he's in residency by then hopefully I can get into the school near us and that will give us incentive to stay. But I'm afraid we need more space, so we'll see how it works out.

Ok guys - I m getting an article together for next week in the other forum, but I am going away for Memorial Day festivities and won't be posting until Tuesday, so I'll put it up then.

It will be about Autism - something you guys should know a little bit about already.

Over time, I may throw in a couple of my favorites that are not autism. I just happen to have found this one easily and it's not a hard read 😉.

beary, good luck with the pack and move! i know you're moving to mich, but where are you moving from, btw?

I've lived in Iowa for the last seven years, which is the longest I've lived anywhere my whole life. Before that Nebraska for four and for some reason I call that "home." Before that Montreal, New Jersey, and New York.

Anyone have an opinion on the Dixie Chicks article in TIME? I have yet to read it, but I think they are just bitter about their fan base dropping off the face of the earth and never rebounding.

The packers are here now. It is weird. They seem like decent guys. They already packed up my TV. 😱

What? I don't understand...they aren't supposed to be decent guys?

Come to Texas!!! 😀 😀 😀

Seriously, what specialty is he looking into??

Evo,

Are you originally from Texas? I was born and raised there...moved to the East Coast about 4 years ago. I miss the pace of San Antonio. My family still lives there. But, now when I think back on the 27 summers there I wonder how I am still alive!

Off to Lowe's...forgot every extension cord we own at the new house. Agh. I'm sure that is not all I will walk out of there with! I love that store. Yet, somehow I am just not into the orthopedic thing. Go figure. 🙄

Well, born in LA but got here as fast as I could (~ 6 years old).

I love the heat here. What's not to love????

HOw's the East Coast treatin' ya??

The packers are gone! It is so weird to have all my stuff in boxes. Thank goodness for my little laptop with wireless internet! 🙂 My big computer and TV are packed up, but I have a little TV in my bedroom. So I think I will survive for the night with one light (with no lampshade), this computer, and my little TV. Also I am going to go out and get that book! Tomorrow they load which they think will only take a few hours and then I hope to take off and go a few hours. I am pondering spending the night in Joliet, Illinois.

Waaaaah!

Since when does being a good musician or actor mean you automatically know everything about politics? They should stick to what they do best - plucking a guitar.

Seriously, though, these past years since the Iraq invasion have been pretty rocky, but they were against Bush even before 9-11. IMO those musicians and actors that didn't like Bush before he was in office weren't going to change their minds about him but look for ways to make an example of why we shouldn't have voted for him.

There have been other presidents in history who invaded, segregated, trained Islamic fundamentalists in Afghanistan, interred immigrants, and bombed other countries without merit (FDR, Clinton, Carter, Bush I, and the list goes on). Unfortunately our country has become so polar that there will now always be severe criticism of any elected official.

I'm not saying Bush is a saint, but I do support going into Iraq. I do support Bush being an outspoken Christian (apparently Albright has a problem with this). I wish he'd take a stronger stance on immigration reform. I wish education reform was on the table. Blah, blah, blah.

I've never been north of South Carolina on the coast, but the people in SC, Georgia, and Florida were always nice to me. But then again, I was spending money in their establishments, so of course they would be nice.

The most genuine niceness I got from Mobile, AL. I still have a surrogate mom down there!

okay... dentist appointment tomorrow. let's hope i don't need rct 🙁

listening to talk radio... debating what else to do- update blog... bake cake for my parents anniversary... do some sewing... bah! :hardy:

some east costers are good people. there are many obnoxious ones, though, this is true...especially here in boston. but i think you'll have that everywhere.

my bf tells me every day how he wants to move to the south or to the west b/c he thinks people are nicer there.

Day off tomorrow yay! would be spent studying bio and phys, I love bio. Anyone seen Da Vinci code yet? How was it?

Really???

Yeah, the people here are incredibly rude, self-centered, egotistical, judgemental, arrogant, and have major entitlement issues. I was in for a major shock when we moved here. I had family from here, but I just thought that they were "different". Nope...they are just like the others.

I mean, people love it here. Either you love it or you hate it. I am the latter. My husband grew up here and says it has changed tremendously. He doesn't like it either. That's the main reason we are moving.

Why would he sign up for such punishment???? 😱 :scared:

Well, I have my fingers crossed for you guys.
Punishment 😱 What you mean?

Type A - I have to agree, it was starting to get a little snooty about 15 years ago when I lived in N. Va. So sad too because the area just too crowded and some people really enjoyed that! 😱

And that was 15 years ago. I have seen the antpile get higher and tighter in just the last 4.

And I wonder why my BP is high. DUH.

Note to self: moving Friday, moving Friday.

Shoot. That really blows. 👎 I remember living in VA Beach back in the early 90's and the folks there were super nice and laid back.

type A - is R-town that much better?

It is slower. People are incredibly nice...much more relaxed, friendly and don't take themselves so seriously. I feel like we are getting the best of both worlds. But, crime..that's the downer. The good news is that our neighborhood is made up of a bunch of people who make it their business to make anyone who they have not seen before or who is doing something odd...very uncomfortable. They take pictures and post them on the neighborhood listserv. It is so cool.

The two places are 2 hours apart but a world away.

I have had three blown fuses this afternoon. Seems like it must have something to do with unplugging everything - but I can't figure out what. They were all different circuits too!
