Dude, I can't take anymore of this. Some people just **** up their lives no matter what. They don't care about who is involved and how it effects other people. Even if they are completely miserable at times. I think I'm going to be sick.

So, the mystery for today is: what happened to send mushyplanet spinning off its axis?

No vacation for me this year. *sigh* I'm headed to my mom and dad's this weekend, though. My best friend from high school is getting married on Saturday.

It's going to be more stressful than anything, though - 4 hours one way with two kids in the car. I'll be lucky to make the drive in 8 hours.

I'm going to Barbados! Even better, I'm going there on my honeymoon!
😍 😍 😍 😍
Not until the 2nd week of August, though, I've got some classwork and applications to plow through between now and then.

i'm going to savannah for almost a whole week in August! That's about as exciting as it gets for me. :hardy:

*sigh* My family can be so frustrating sometimes. I called my mom and dad last night to let them know my score. Now apparently I've upset my little 16 year old sister by doing well. She has never done as well in school as my older sister and I did. That's fine, not everyone needs to do well in school to make something really good happen in their life.

I just wanted to share my joy with my family and feel like I'm not allowed to. 🙁

That must be really frustrating, but it's not your fault. Your little sister might just be "at that stage" as a teenager and feels inferior to her older sisters, but there is not much you can do about it. But it's gotta be a crappy feeling nontheless

I was a little dissapointed when I told my family. They were supportive, but I think they expected me to be a 35+ person. I think it's because I have been good at everything thus far, school, SAT, .....and I guess maybe they expected the same out of the mcat. It's hard when everyone you know says "oh man your gonna get a 36" and then you don't deliver....i feel like a semi failure (even though i know my score is fine)

oh well, just have to keep the eye on the prize, med school......

i mean you know--16 is a weird age--i used to get upset by everything. she'll come around. you have made your parents very proud--that's for sure.

Oh, I know that feeling. It's completely stupid but I was a bit let down at first by my 37 because my husband and lots of SDNers thought I was going to break 40. I'm over it now but it was disappointing at first.

Really stupid, I know.

Oh, I know. It just makes me sad that I can't share such an important part of my life with my family because of it.

My little sister has always had issues, though and my parents are super careful about protecting her self-esteem. I'm just sad about it. 🙁

In five years, when we have "MD" after our names, there will only be two MCAT scores: the one that was good enough to get us into med school, and the other one. And you got the first one! Worrying about differences beyond that will seem as silly as dwelling on our SAT scores seems now (although for some reason these apps keep asking for it, what's up with that? 😕 )

No one has asked for my SAT score yet!

I posted earlier that I would be happy with a 15, 1, 1. 🙂

 can you imagine an adcom seeing that split......i would give it an interview just to see what that character was all about

oxeye--i understand that--you probably wanted to get in the upper range of your test scores--nothing wrong with setting (SUPER) high goals for yourself--but dayum a 37 is freakin' awesome

My goal at the beginnig of all this was 36. So I met that. 🙂 I just wish my husband hadn't pushed me to get an even higher score. But oh well, I think I can more than live with my 37. 😉 My state school's average is a 29.

wow! you crushed it! they are gonna be rolling out the red carpet for you!

hahaha, brett, i'd definitely invite you for an interview with a 15, 1, 1. 😀

In my case, I definitely expected PS to be my highest. I'm an engineer, and I've always been much better with chemistry and physics than with biology. I developed a huge migraine during the test that was so bad during BS, I really found it hard to focus on the test booklet. But during PS I felt like I owned it. So does it make any sense that my PS and BS scores were equal?!? That test is so f*ing weird.

same exact feeling!! I'm an engineer too and I never got lower than an 11 on PS and felt fine during it......I was having so much trouble even reading during BS, I was expecting to do crappy in it......and then I got the same score for both of them too!

Howdy, kids. How are things? Anyone have some exciting news? (preferably NOT related to the MCAT!!!)

oxeye, your score kicks a**. If you even THINK about feeling disappointed about it, I'm going to come up there and beat you. Seriously. We are going to have a real, old-fashioned SDN Amish gang intervention. 😉 Your MCAT is great. Now forget about it, and worry about the rest of the app. Go visit the school's website and make a list of three things that you really like about that school. And practice interviewing; I went to more interviews than I care to admit, and I promise that you WILL get asked these two questions:
1)Tell me about yourself. (aka, why do you want to go into medicine, you old fart, you?)
2) Why do you want to go to this school?

Pemberley, I don't know why some schools wanted SAT scores either. I had to go through quite a bit of hassle to obtain mine, since I took that test in 1991. 🙄

This is exactly what my friends who applied this year said....

But how often do you get those questions like "what is you philosophy on health care, " ........

gah... i've had people come up to me to find out my score... and then say they don't believe I haven't checked it yet

i am not abnormal!

I never got asked it. I don't know why, but seriously, never, ever, not even once. I did occasionally get a couple of ethics issues (what would you do if a teenage girl came to you for an abortion kind of thing), but that's it. I got asked a lot about research though, which makes sense considering that I was telling them that I wanted to be a physician scientist. 🙂
