i'm totally gonna steal beary's idea and make mcat notecards to study in the shower.

Hey it wasn't my idea! 😡

Sounds like an awesome timesaver though. Driving and taking out the trash are other really good times to study.

Basically an intro to clinical pathology at U Mich. How about you? How's your studying going?

it's going ok dr. beary--finally done with gen chem and physics for now.......i'm hoping o-chem won't be that bad once i get to it since i just took that course. Bio will definitely be the least painful for me.......and i don't think i will study very much for verbal.

I'm home!! Finally.

What should be a 4 hour drive from my mom and dad's place ended up taking over 6 hours. The babies were very well behaved, thank goodness. The delays were all from road construction in the moutains - blech!

I'm so glad to be back, though. 🙂

one milllioonnnnn dollars!

on amcas? i dunno--seemed like it started at $150 for one school then $30 for each additional school. i added a school today actually. $115 for all the texas schools ana--that rocks!

😱
$150 + 20($30) + interview expenses + secondaries = my right kidney

Anyone know how much it is for aacomas?

Ok I have a dilemma I'm going to ask you guys for advice.

Both masters programs I was going to apply for take the MCAT/GRE. The one program (expensive!!!) is due in Dec so MCAT is out. And also I think I'm going to hold off on this program for a year. But the 2nd program is a small MS program at OSU-COM (my first choice school as well as my school that I live within 2 mins of 😀 ) They said that if I applied next spring after my grades are out in the spring that would be fine. They said they had like 20 applicants last year and took 11 of them. Its a rolling admissions thing. I need the grades to bring my gpa to about a 3.0. But I'm debating on whether I should try to take the MCAT (in the midst of all my science classes) or just take the GRE and then take the MCAT later in the year or wait till the following year. The hubby thinks taking the GRE would be easier on me and honestly, so do I. I could then maybe study that whole summer for the MCAT and take it in August or something as I haven't decided if I'm going to apply next year or do the masters for a year (if I get in) and then apply with those grades. (the masters classes are WITH the med students - booyah ... I have to ace them though. But I won't have as rigorous as a schedule as they do AS WELL as any classes I take in the masters program I don't have to retake in the DO program)

Most likely I will be applying next summer, but taking the mcat next august or something like that. So do you think I should rush the MCAT to take before May ... or just do the GRE over the next few months and then worry about the MCAT for my applications not for the masters program. 😕

Thanks for listening.

yah. I think i'm going with the gre ... make my life easier ...

The GRE is much easier on the system than the MCAT. I've taken both. The GRE is hard to 'study' for. Just practice lots to familiarize yourself with the test format/question types and timing. I begrudgingly decided I'd take it November and then wrote it at the end of January of last year. I didn't really get into the real studying till after Christmas. The analogy and definition questions you just can't study for. Mind you, I didn't do spectacular (except for the writing section 😕 ) but my scores were decent enough for me to make it into my desired grad program. But my program was pretty vague about cutoffs until this year (but I still made the cutoffs), so it's best to figure out what the cutoffs are if possible.

I don't advocate my last minute strategy, but it can be pulled off much better than with the MCAT.

aw! I know--anything beats mcat hell
My buddies and I were supposed to go in late May like last year but it didn't work out. We stayed in the crappiest campsite too with a leaky tent. Needless to say I was tired and we stayed literally from park opening to park closing.
