Does anyone know good migraine meds I could request from my neuro? My migraines are coming back. The surgeon says he doesn't think operating will help but I sure wish he would. :barf:

Maxalt. Excellent stuff. Worked wonders for me. I had a 17 day...yes 17 DAY migraine a couple of years ago. I have NO IDEA how I remained upright. It was awful. Maxalt was wonderful. So sorry you feel terrible. 🙁

morning kids. Man is leaving tonight. *sobs uncontrollably* He's off to all places ... Ohio. 😎 West side though. Can I survive 24 days? I don't know. I'm trying to train my dogs NOT to chew stuff so I can let them sleep inside with me. :scared:

Mush, I'm so sorry! I just got through a month+ (though, I did get weekend visits) ...it stinks! Dogs are a lifesaver! I'm so sorry you have to go through it...especially only being marred like what, 6 months? 🙁

Do you get to visit at all?

Where did S&M take a trip to????

I just got back from canoeing on the Saco River in New Hampshire/Maine. We went 22 miles in 2 days, and boy are my arms tired! Oh, and I stopped counting when I got to 55...mosquito bites, that is. I bathed in bug spray, but these insects were vicious and hungry for flesh! We all got bitten pretty badly, but I think I got the worst of it b/c I'm the palest 🙁

Other than that, though, the trip was fun. It was really only my second or third time camping. I am glad we only went for 1 night though...2 nights with those killer bugs would have been about enough for me.

VD, I hope you feel better and get some sort of treatment for those migraines. As I remember us discussing both before and after the MCAT, I also suffer from them and I know they can be really awful.

mushy...sorry your hubby is gone! You will make it through...these first few days will be the worst for sure. I know it's not the same, but my boyfriend (of 4+ years) went to Italy for 3 weeks over Christmas/New Year's...it was a horrible time to be by myself, but I went to see my family and made it through ok 🙂

My husband is from St. Charles 😉

His brothers and father still live there and his rugby club is based there.

Nice area, great schools.

Yeah I was impressed by the fact that there's some new housing areas named after the city where these friends and myself are originally from in Florida. It was named after our hometown because of the fact that the developer was from there, but pretty cool.

i lost my uni card... now i won't be able to get into my apartment!!

and i decided not to go to classes today. i just had to say no.

Sounds like a lot of fun. BTW, I saw your pictures on myspace in which you were wearing an Indian outfit. I just wanted to say I was Impressed and have to say Indian clothes suit you well. 😉

He'll be about 13 hrs away so no weekend conjugal visits. :meanie: Yeah our 6 month will be Saturday. We went out to dinner last night for it though 😀 Finally think I found a decent italian place here!! But yeah it will just be a little rough. He was actually gone the first month we were married, but I still got to see him on weekends. I'm sure I'll be fine just hard with so much stuff going on as well as I don't really feel wholly comfortable staying in my house alone. My neighborhood isn't THAT bad but its not in the best area. A friend is coming to visit this weekend I just found out to keep me company so that will help. Just stinks b/c its so far away. Then he's away Sept-Dec too. But hopefully 3 of those months he'll just be a few hours away (less than 5) so we can still see each other.

Although beary ... I'm looking into residencies in Michigan for him 😉 He said he knows its a great healthcare system up there as well as tons of osteopathic opportunities (he's only doing osteopathic) but I find it HILARIOUS that an okie would think of michigan. He gets cold if its below 70 in the house. :meanie: But I wouldn't mind being up there. I just need to live somewhere NEAR a med school.

Hi Ana,

I am so sorry to hear about your migraines. They must be really bad if you want to have brain surgery. 🙁

Triptans are the obvious thing that everybody takes for migraines. They are very helpful. I have occasionally had migraines and heard from somebody that reglan (metoclopramide) helps and I tried it and totally agree. This is typically used for nausea so migraines are an off-label use, but it has few side effects and is something you could try if triptans don't work for you.
Thanks for the suggestions guys! I'm thinking about Innopran because I've heard it can work wonders for migraines and I have noticed that my blood pressure kinda drops when I have a migraine. Sometimes I think docs fear pre-meds because we know just enough to get us in trouble but not enough to know we know nothing at all.

lil, sorry your scores didn't come out great. I TOTALLY know how that feels. You'll have so much of an advantage going in August though b/c you already know what it's like to go into the real thing. That is a major confidence booster! Plus you'll study hard and you'll be ready to kill it. 🙂

I have a Sari one of my dad's friends bought for me. She never taught me how to put it on though so it sits in my closet. 🙁

On a happier note, how was canoeing? I'm so jealous!

it's really an art to put those things on...you have to go through some pretty serious training!

canoeing was fun, aside from all the mosquitoes. seriously, i've never seen so many in my life! and they weren't really a problem while we were canoeing...they were bad when we camped out and tried to eat and go to sleep.

VD and S&M,

Don't worry my 50+ year old mom doesn't even know how to put on a sari without help from one of her friends. So you can always find someone willing to help you put it on.

mushy--i'm sorry to hear that--24 days is quite a long time........no chance that you will be able to go visit him? Ohio is just lovely this time of year 🙄 no seriously--i think i remember where you said he was going and it's a nice area.

edit: oh i just read your other post.....no ohio visits?? you don't know what you're missing!

Someone explain to me a house in the north of north Wisconsin can be hotter then a house in Florida where its like 20 degrees higher!!!!!!!!

I'm at my aunt's house right now, and it si soooooooooooooo hot here compared to my house in Tampa which is always at least in the 70's if not sometimes as low as 60's and feeling nice and cool inside.

I swear I'm starting to get a headache from the heat.

Can't wait to be back in Tampa where I have my car to move around and be where ever I need to be. But in the meanwhile, I think I'm going to review solutions to old practice tests and do 30 minute exams from the EK books after I rereview some things in the physical science section that keep messing me up.

Gulf Breeze vs. Stagnant Air? I dunno.

I just remember in Destin you can't have your patio and front condo door open because it created turbulent winds inside.

eeeeexxxxxactly!

The worst is trying to stay coole in St. Louis/Memphis in the summertime. 100+ degrees, high humidity, and NO breeze.

nice area eh? Toledo is nice? I heard its teh sucks. I'd love to visit a weekend but its out of our budget. WAY out. Its only 3 weekends so its not that bad, I'll just be bored because I haven't "established" myself yet with many people here.

PW and Mushy can relate to this...
TX storms are so amazing! I love watching them. I love listening to them. What I don't love is the absolutely hotter than hell feeling that comes about 30 minutes afterwards when the sun comes out and evaporates all the puddles and turns TX into ONE MASSIVE SAUNA!!

I agree VD! I wish we'd get more rain around here. Tomorrow and wednesday should be big rain days.
We've had several nice gentle rains the past few days and an absolute gusher today. Good for the crops; Good while it lasted. But now I'm not going outside for awhile.

I actually got asked once how I could stand to live in this heat but I think of it as no different than living up north. Like in Michigan: You really don't do anything outside from January to March right? Too friggin' cold. Well, it's the reverse here. Beautiful the rest of the year but June - August: Hotter than Satan's armpit. And you just don't go outside for long periods, unless you like heat exhaustion. :barf:
