well it's nice if you have some $$ to put down. Many jewelery stores have interest free financing for 12 months or whatever so you can break it up into payments. You just need to go take a look to check out pricing.

i remember talking to a co-worker about tiffany's. she was looking at a diamond there, but its all name inflation. she ended up finding a nice and bigger diamond at another place

oooh... princess cut i think that's it. heh, my mom gave me the lecture on diamond cuts... i don't know why since she reminds me how she's too young to be a grandma

but then again... they blood diamonds.

weren't saphires traditionally the stone to give for engagements?

That is very pretty--I personally love princess cut.

But it seems very overpriced--do you know how many carats it is?

I think clarity and size of the diamond are most important---also the cut can increase the price

well someone got their hands on an official copy of the birth certificate so i dunno--i think she's real but where are the pictures!! are they hiding her in a basement or something? gawd--we even got pics of brangie's baby eventually

honestly mine was only a couple hundred. But we got a a ring with multiple diamonds then took the largest ring and got it refit. Its only .33 carats but its the thought that matters. And its a decent sized rock. Maybe not compared to my friends that have their 2-3 carats but hey, I don't want to walk around with that much bling.

Your a student and don't have much money right now. You can always upgrade later. I hope she understands that. I'd say total for ring and rock either $1K-$2K for maybe a decent quality 1/2 carat. Look online to understand the ratings (espeically for diamonds).

My girlfriend is not materialistic in the slightest sense, but I was under the impression that if I were to get a cheap ring, she might not like it.
