Especially in "mistytown in the dustbowl in a licorice induced coma"

They're everywhere.
Honestly if you only knew. There are penguins ALL over this town. They sold like 6-7 ft statues of them to get a penguin exhibit at the local zoo. So they really are EVERYWHERE. :scared:

I still ahve my goal to have my picture taken with all of them here. 😀

We had painted horses all around the city. Was too apathetic to try to see them all.

now now, do unto others as you would have others done to you 😉

But I totally can understand with the children issue. I had been advised to even have children FIRST. But i'll be a little too old then, so I'm just going to manage both. 😉 Plus then by the time they hit their teens I'll be a practicing physician and have a little more flexibility to handle the rough spots. 😀 Just my outlook though.

I think the way I did it will work out well - I was 23 when I had my first. I didn't decide to do it this way, though. I thought I had to choose one or the other and family was a higher priority for me. After my first was born I realized that I could do both - and probably be a better mom that way. I get frustrated when I am with my kids all day every day.

And I agree that it will be better to have the kids be older during residency. I hope anyway!

I don't think I'm going to end up having kids. Kind of sad I guess.

I had really been considering adopting, but then realized that I can't handle that without a spouse. So if I would get married really soon to some mysterious bachelor, maybe I would start the adoption process then. But I am starting to think probably not.

You still have plenty of time to decide on adoption. 🙂 I think you'd make a great mom.

old? you're kidding right?!?!?! You have plenty of time. Althought the risks are a little higher at 35+ many women (and more of them) are having healthy children. Don't give up yet!!! You've been so focused on school. Its so hard to balance the two.

And with adoption, also plenty of time!!!

I totally understand why you wouldn't want to without a spouse, but I think adoption is such a cool thing. If for some reason I can't have kids (knock on wood) I will adopt

meg- nice use of discretion

mush- I like the "sum it up for us" stuff. I'm also thoroughly confused, esp as to how a) someone persecuted single mothers (I must have missed that) and b) why the "race card" got played. I saw the first mention of it, I just didn't understand its relevance to the topic at hand. how do any of us know each others' race unless we disclose it or have met another SDNer? For all we know, that was directed at someone of her own ethnic/racial background... and that'd be dumb.

I think the "single mother issue" was directed at me. She kept going on and on about how she was a single mom. I told her that she wouldn't like it if people were hating on single moms, so don't hate on moms who work. Apparently that was offensive?

I'm going to restrain myself from that thread by going to take my A&P Lab final. *sigh* I've studied as much as I can and still feel like I know squat.

I have to get an 84 to get an A in the class. I think I can do it, but I'm nervous.

Later peeps!
