back from the obx, you guys were busy these past few days...i need to catch up!

A-Man, congrats on finishing peds, what a great feeling that must be

lil - welcome back!

bb- sorry to hear you lost that freeroll money, but it was still a nice little run!

ana - good luck at your pitt interview!!....but don't go there because BAYLOR I wants you and I want that spot 😛

I need to do some more catching up, but I hope everyone is doing swell...need to sleep for now 🙂
 Thanks, but I didn't apply to Pitt. I'm going to UT-Houston. 😀

wellllll.. westbound 44 they've got at least one lane closed at exit 266. not sure if that's eastbound as well. (then you wave to me at 272 😀) and then they were working on the Meramec River bridge around mm275, but that might be done... then there's a lane closed about another 5-7 miles up at Shrewsbury.... which will create a snarl at rush hour but is otherwise OK.. (then wave again as you go by Grand, b/c that's where I'll be at work 😀) and then there's the Poplar St. Bridge heading into IL which they're working on.. so, uh, yeah. there's some construction.

So do you like the new VD movie Ana? I have to hear your opinion (although biased) in order to make my decision on whether or not it is a go. 😉

I got sooo lucky today. Somehow work didn't have me on a truck today...so, I saw my opportunity for a day off and ran with it. 😀 FREE DAY!!! yeah right, I really need to catch up on some MCAT stuff. 🙁

It's good, really good. My dad (who has no obsession with vin at all 😀 ) said it was one of the best movies he'd ever seen. Entertaining. But if you're easily offended - you will be by this movie. The character gets really crass at times. But all the court dialoge is taken from records so that's really what the guy said.

Nah, I am not easily offended. I will put it on my list after Failure to Launch.

A-man scolded me for neglecting my random thread posting count. 🙁 So I'm back. I hope you all are doing well; I spent this weekend carrying boxes in some very hot, humid weather....
You're not talking about beautiful sunny florida, are ya?

Well, my husband might think I have gone nuts when he gets home from work... I have placed MCAT equations that I seem to forget when taking a PT on flashcards, and then I placed them in random places around the house.

For example, the door, the cabinet in the kitchen, the fridge, the mirror in the bathroom, and above the toilet paper dispenser in the bathroom.

It looks like something out of a Beautiful Mind up in here. hehehehe

Oh man, do I ever remember dashing about and hiding my stash of flashcards minutes before friends would drop by my room.

Yes. Funny story too. Only to be revealed in chat of course.
Hey BB- you know the discrepancy with EK orgo melting point? What is the correct way? Increase or decrease with chainlength and branching?

I'm not sure truthfully. I thought they were pretty much the same as boiling point.

I'll check with my kaplan tonight.

Yeah...Kaplan says Increased brancing has decreased mp...but, EK says that increased branching had increased mp.

Nevermind...Q said Kaplan is right. She might be biased thought cause she is a Kaplan instructor.

On a side note from the above post, I'm not too pleased with the EK orgo. I think it was too bare bones.
I am doing EK 1001 orgo questions for lecture 3 as we speak. 😀 I personally like it cause I felt like Kaplans info was overwhelming. I did really good on the orgo passages on 4R, so I am not changing anyting. 😛

Honestly - I never even finished EK Orgo 😱 I felt like studying for my lecture was actually helping me more.

BTW, stop cluttering up my random-ness with all this mcat related stuff. 😛

what about 270 and interchanges to get to 70? Would that bypass any of that?

Thanks for the tips. I hope if we leave at 4am we'll get there about 830-9 so maybe we'll miss osme of that.

I wrote my very first organic explanations post about this in the subforum about a year ago. Check it out.

Edit: Here is the link: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showpost.php?p=2877597&postcount=3 The last paragraph explains what you're asking about.

Only if the compound is highly symmetrical will the MP increase. Both of their descriptions are simplified, but in general, branching DECREASES MP unless the compound is highly symmetrical. Read that post I just told you about if you want more, because I am not going to retype it again. 😛

Thanks Q. I will just hope that I don't get a highly symmetrical molecule on the MCAT for a q like this.

I agree with Ana, this thread is neither random nor peripherally related to the MCAT anymore. But I'll let it slide since I remember the stress of the final stretch.

blah. well, on a side note then...i can't stop eating those fun pops. ya know, the ones that you get by the case? you have to cut off the top with scissors and push them up.

Larry the cable guy posted this on his about me section on myspace. I thought it was pretty funny.

"Wal-Mart leads the nation in mis-spelled bathroom graffiti. I really think our school system is in trouble. I drove by a high school last week and the billboard out front said "congratulations graduate". "

Like I said, I'm a nice guy so in between fun pops, feel free to panic and have us other Randomites and wannabes commiserate.
