Welcome to Part 6! Everyone did a bang up job by hitting 10k in less than 12 days--11 days 19 hours and 18 minutes to be exact. A new record! 😀

For those not familiar with what we do here, Molly has been kind enough to put together a nice description.

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

I got my niece this doctor kit that we played with when we were in Ohio together. It had a little notepad with various things on it including allergies. We didn't talk about allergies but apparently she has talked with her folks about it. So now all of her dolls have allergies.

One is allergic to pumpkins, one to flowers, one to pies, and one to ladybugs. That's all I can remember right now. SO CUTE. 😍

Thyroid-stimulating-hormone. Folks with hyperthyroidism get something called exophthalmos, which looks like this:
Exophthalmos__Graves_disease_.jpg

Based on my initial physical exam (oh heck, that's as detailed of a physical as I would ever do), I am concerned that Elmo has hyperthyroidism and would have a low TSH.

yeah, thats some serious negative feedback going on, not the first case on sdn --> 😱

when i was in bio 1 lab one of my group members had those "pop eyes", not this bad but noticeable. i wonder if she ever saw a doctor for it or if she just thought it was normal. as an 18 year old college freshman i just thought it was her, may have been, but i didnt realize until med school she could of been hyperthyroid.

if she writes NKDA for allergies, run. 😍

for everyone else, NKDA = no known drug allergies

ok, MM- here goes the restaurant manager story. I think PW tells it better, but whatever.. and I'm a little buzzed. so we'll see how this goes.

the weekend when PW and I met, actually, that first day, we were sitting next to some very nice people. one of them decided to go to dinner with PW, PWH, and myself, but neglected to mention to us that she has really severe food allergies. to everything. so we go to this microbrew pub/restaurant, and she can't have anything with beer (a lot of their recipes included it in the cooking for flavor), or most types of oil, or any preservatives, or shellfish, or certain fruits and veggies, or dairy... and honestly, I can't even remember what all of them were.

so our poor server had to go get the manager, who had to SIT DOWN at our table with us and write down the list of her allergies. if memory serves, a seared steak on a plain grill was OK, as were green beans with no butter/sauce, and a plain baked potato- no butter, sour cream, etc.

the manager winds up coming back to us 5 min later holding a gallon-jug of oil, b/c that's what they use to clean off the grill. he let her inspect the list of ingredients in the oil to make sure it wasn't going to kill her.

PW, PWH, and I were about to crawl under the table.... this took forever, and none of us had eaten all day.

then the next day, SOMEONE gets the bright idea to invite our entire table to lunch. guess who was sitting back at our table?

wtg, PW. wtg.

That girl from that show Girlfriends has some bugged out eyes too.

Time to call it a night folks so that Elmo can rest his eyes 😀

Well folks, must say goodnight. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday! I am going to come home from work and crash in bed immediately. 😀

Have a great day tomorrow!

Oh, do I feel that poor woman's pain.

My bf doesn't have quite such an extensive list of allergies but I do call him "Bubble Boy" for a reason.

Going out to eat is an exercise in patience. Can you check the bread? Can you check the salad dressing? The fryer oil? The cheesecake crust?

Oh, and since I'm the girl and have the purse, I get to carry the albuterol, the Benadryl, and the Epi-pen. 🙂 Such fun. 🙂

I'm allergic to vancomycin. Learned that one the hard way. Very bad red man's syndrome, and not just because I'm a Husker fan and there was a game on that day. 😉

i'm allergic to all pain meds except demerol. give me some demerol damn it.

haha, getting ready for my possible EM residency.

ok, it's midnight EST. respite at last. and no, Will, if someone else starts a sports conversation, you may not contribute to it. for 24 hours.

Wow, this is gonna be interesting. I may have to stay up for 3-4 more minutes to see what happens.

 It's true, you'll hear that ALL THE TIME.

I got some more narcotics today, and they were like, what do you prefer for pain? (Real answer: percocet). I was afraid to even say that for some reason, so just sort of shrugged. They gave me vicodin, *sigh*.
