Welcome to Part 6! Everyone did a bang up job by hitting 10k in less than 12 days--11 days 19 hours and 18 minutes to be exact. A new record! 😀

For those not familiar with what we do here, Molly has been kind enough to put together a nice description.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

Oh hey, even after halftime it's still 0 - 0. You would've thought they'd add points for the hell of it considering this is MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL. Ben shouldn't be on the field. You can tell he's too worried about wounds.

Were you there when the announcers were discussing what an appendectomy was? The bimbo girl on the sidelines even had an anatomic graphic to help her out. The guys upstairs contributed with such insights like: "Wow, when that sucker gets inflamed it looks like a tamale!"

Was part of my summer research program at Vandy. We spent Tues & Wed mornings in pairs rounding with the academic IM teams then Fridays discussing what we saw. The rest of the time was spent in labs; luckily my PI was a surgeon so I got to see both sides of the medical realm.

The program was national in its applicant scope (I was the only Vandy undergrad there), and yes there were a few non-trads. 🙂

Hubby's going into it and you haven't seen it yet? 😱

I liked how the field was pretty intense as far as problem-solving went. Especially at the university hospital, there were so many patients with bizarre illnesses and others that required such a fine balancing act between the treatments for their multiple afflictions. The attendings spent a lot of time discussing minutiae though, and every other patient seemed to be another diabetes ulcer or congestive heart failure.

I certainly enjoyed it, but I like surgery better at the moment. However, I'm not naive enough to think my interests won't change when I hit the wards (hopefully) in a few years.

and for the record, given the Bengals' record during the 80s and 90s, it's hard to be a fan even when you're living there. I moved out of town in 1992, so I have no real affinity (nor hatred) for them... In the last two years they have apparently been doing quite well, and my family holds out high hopes for this year. I did get to go to a game on Thanksgiving weekend a few years ago. Nice stadium.

Just finished watching Studio 60....is was just okay. I thought it was gonna be really good.
