how's your studying going guys? are you freaking out? burned out?

this is our stress relief thread....or our group anxiety thread, whatever..... 😀

for those of you that have no idea what the mcat random threads are about, check out molly's explanation:

MollyMalone said:
It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO POST HERE, you're welcome to jump in at anytime. Here's the final tally from part 7:

beary - sorry I missed your chat invite. I was busy doing Xmas crafts 😉

Now I'm off to bed!

Speaking of crafts, my colleague where I volunteer taught me the niftiest thing. She taught me how to make pop up cards. I think that's an awesoe craft idea to do with the kids.

well aren't you sweet? 🙂 I'm doing fine- spent the day at work. Roads weren't too bad going in, even better coming home. I'm not sure of the exact amount, but I'd say we had 4-6 inches of snow at my house.

Now the big decision: to shovel the driveway or not? I've got 4WD now, so I can just go over it and into the garage, but then I become "that neighbor". 😳

I remember we took a road trip to DC my freshmen year. The native Texas girls were having a fight over who got to shovel the driveway at our friend's house (yeah glad to say I wasn't in on that argument 😉 )

2 questions

1. why would an ob/gyn be stupid enough to perform a procedure like that so out of their scope??!?!?!

2. why would the patient go to an ob/gyn for lipo?!?!?!

glad you saw some good stuff PW but damn, thats insane.

my thoughts exactly .... and did PW say this was a GUY having an ob/gyn do this to him?? Crazy!

Reminds me of when I was shadowing an ob/gyn, though. I looked at the patient list for the day and there was listed in the gender column that he was seeing a man that day. Obviously a typo ....

It was a guy...and I have no idea why an ob/gyn would do this surg...*****.

I was so excited after the first snow when we moved here...PWH looked at me strangely when I said I WANTED to shovel. Um, yeah...that didn't last long.

Yeah I so would not be fighting over who wants to shovel. I'd let them do all the shoveling they want.

But I sure would love to make snow balls and throw them at them while they are doing it. That would be funny though very mean.

Nikki,

If you enjoy rides, you should come down to Tampa and go to Busch Gardens. We got the new and amazing Sheikra that everyone's going crazy over. Supposedly really awesome ride but I'm not into roller coasters.

My folks bought us a snowblower for Xmas last year - it definitely came in handy for the foot of snow we got.

Our deck door has 2 foot drifts, and forget about the back garage.

The temps are supposed to stay under 32 for at least the next 10 days - maybe a white christmas afterall!

So, I tried the real whip cream on the key lime pies and it was a hit. I used a few tablespoons of sugar and a bit of vanilla. I would have done the meringue if I had more time. I didn't have enough eggs in my fridge and no time to go get more. Thanks for the baking advice! 🙂

hey randomites, whats everyone up to, just returned from math class with an entire paper to do for the morning

you guys make me so excited I cant wait to start med school in sept (assuming I get in of course). Anyway i g2g, ttyl

wow. you guys were quiet today.

I ended up liking Southwestern more than I expected. However, within the first 15 minutes of getting there, I heard this one medical student just start ripping on San Antonio (being really mean and completely inappropriate 😡 ) and while I met some nontrad med students I really liked (one actually straight up told me if I liked medical humanities... I really shouldn't come to SW 😱 ), on the whole I've never been surround by such gunners and tools in my entire life. Ugh.

Thanks 🙂

Too busy working in my lab this afternoon. :barf:

Sucky! I'm sorry, Twin! Final project?

I remember bringing food to my best friend when she was trying to finish her senior engr design project. 🙁 I don't think she ever left the lab/machine shop.

No, I learned my lesson doing research for class credit last year; I made sure to get paid in cash this semester. $10/hr is hard to beat on campus, especially for those of us ineligible for federal work/study jobs. Plus, it looks better than flipping burgers on the ol' resume (or mdapps 😎 ).

I just look at this wasted afternoon as an extra $50 to blow this weekend. 😀

I believe the correct question Miss I-Host-$60-Per-Hour-Consultations-And-Still-Need-More-Tax-Write-Offs is what are you buying for me?
um, those consultations are $100/hr, thankyouverymuch. and thanks to managed care, I rarely get that. 🙁

plus I had 6/7 people cancel on Thurs b/c of the snowstorm, so I'm po' now. 😳

re: the tax write-offs, since I'm self-employed (PT, at least), I have to have lots of tax write-offs in order to avoid paying a TON out of pocket in April and having no money left for fun. if you'll note, this is around the time of many schools' second-look weekends.

I guess what I'm saying is- humor me now, beer for you later. 😀

OMG I am so coming in the spring and you can't stop me.

Beer please 🙂

Ha! You're converted 😀
To beer? 😕 No I was always a follower of beer; no conversion needed. 😉

I'm not saying I'm in love with WashU (or even that I'll get an interview) I'm just saying I'll be the wierd, slightly green colored girl who shows up randomly to throw stuff at the 2nd look people.

On a side note: I just got a PM and apparently I met an SDNer today and didn't even know it!

What a tool! That's a shame... hope the folks I met were more representative of the student body than these clowns... at least you have the option of choosing San Antonio -- the people there were the #1 friendliest group I've met interviewing.

Woohoo, UCLA beats USC!!!! Excellent game.

That was seriously fun to watch, especially the tip-interception at the end. Tonight should be a good game, as well.

hey anastasis! glad you saw another school, you're on a roll woman.

something i didnt realize until i got to medical school was how each class has its own personality. at someplace somplace, the class of 2010 is WEIRD... as in, very focused on themselves with very little "hi, how are you?" with anyone. several people have mentioned that, even staff that has worked at the school for years. my point is not to judge a school just by the students you meet on interview day, especially if you only dealth with students that were all in the same level.

hey, uh, A-man- I think we have some psych consults for you in the ER tonight. didn't you get my pages?

sorry penguin, just give all the axis I's a 5 and 2 and tell them to come back tomorrow :meanie:

if they were brought in by the cops make it a 10 and 4 and we'll deal with it sometime monday when they wake up
