how's your studying going guys? are you freaking out? burned out?

this is our stress relief thread....or our group anxiety thread, whatever..... 😀

for those of you that have no idea what the mcat random threads are about, check out molly's explanation:

MollyMalone said:
It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO POST HERE, you're welcome to jump in at anytime. Here's the final tally from part 7:

Yeah, I heard a sound clip of him trying to finish his speech and ask for questions - he couldn't find his words. I put my money on a TIA/stroke but because of what you wrote his office will say he's totally fine.

I didn't realize it happened during a speech! In other breaking news from yesterday: Peter Boyle died. I was home all day (no exams) and I was catching all the new stories. 😀

no classes today.. hmm i can use the time to catch up on my chem and phys. last night i filled all the handouts according to each module, now i m going to read through the binder full of notes for mod 1 and 2 from school and hilight the important things then i 'll do questions. i love chem this year i think its because i finally understand whats going on. as oppossed to last yr which was a disaster.

Dear Randomites...if you ever need to lose your lunch...I think this will do the trick. :barf:

Just had to pop on and share the GOOD car news for once... one reason why I've been looking for a new car is that I'd been told that my suspension was about to go and on Jeeps that's a HUGE deal to fix (couple k easy).

One of my dad's patients told him, "That doesn't sound right. Jeep suspensions last forever if you don't use them offroad. Bring it in to my shop." So we did - guess what?

It just needs new front shocks. Less than $100. And this guy is really nice and trust worthy. He just told me on the phone, "You can keep this car running another 4 years easy spending about $500 a year in repairs. Don't get rid of it and if you do, call me and I'll buy it."

I need you guys input ...

I don't know if I want to take my winter class. Its a biology labeled class "survey of human diseases" ... I don't know if its worth the 2 weeks for the A. Its a 3 credit class but I think that with my other classes I've taken and since this is for non-bio majors that its a waste of my time. But I'm just taking for gpa booster (b/c afterall it IS a science class still) so I can't decide if I should suck it up for the 2 weeks (and 5 hrs a day I'll be in class - not to mention time I might need to study stuff) or just take the 2 weeks off and get myself some rest and start organizing house and studying hardcore for MCAT. The more I think about it, the more that I want to stay home.

I mean it only helps my GPA like .015 but with my sub-3.0 ... every bit helps. I would think they would be more impressed with me taking heavy science load rather than a non-bio general education class ....

I'm just trying to rationalize .. (also the money I spend for credits). When doing GPA damage control I understand that all credits matter, but the money to pay for a class where I'm probably not going to learn anything new, doesn't do it for me.

*sigh*

If I were you I'd put that time into studying for the MCAT. That doesn't improve your GPA all that much but if you put the same amount of time into the MCAT it could improve your score by a couple of points which is a much bigger deal I think. It it's really kinda a blow-off class, you could take it during a normal semester so it looks like you took more science hours than you did (if that makes sense). Plus I understand the money thing, that's why I'm not taking classes in the Spring. Couldn't justify the cost to myself when I didn't really need the courses.

Plus I just think you need a break 🙂

Thanks VD. I just want some reassurance. Your line of thinking is what I was thinkign too!

dude mushy--why don't you spend 5 hours a day studying for the mcat hardcore? make physics your biotch

Well that is what I was thinking ... the MCAT is more important than a class wehre I'm sure I've already learned more in depth issues with the diseases at hand. I'm going to drop the class I think.

oh my! 😱

Ryan Cabrerra? Man I thought this was buried like 3 years ago ... :barf:

jk VD 😉 Its a good song

Yeah it is a good song....but whatever happened to him 😕 kinda just disappeared like every pop star

My stomach is grumbling big time. I hope it's not the lettuce that I ate 2 nights ago :scared:

mushy, i vote for staying home and studying MCAT hardcore. as VD said, improving your MCAT score a point or two is a HUGE payoff. but good luck with whatever you end up deciding.

Unfotunately, I think I was the exam's biotch. Oh well. Whatevs. I don't think I did THAT bad, I think I got a B and not an A like I was hoping. Thank God I did the honors project.

And 😡 to all who say CC classes are so much easier. *Borat voice* What!

🙁 about the test but I bet you did better than you think you did.

I always get upset when people (especially on SDN) write off CC classes as "easy". The CC I went to in CA was so much harder than the 4-year state school where I've been taking extra pre-reqs.

Mush, if it were me (us being in similar situations and all)...I would take it. Just my $.02 :luck: Let us know what you decide.

don't bother. and why do people keep thinking it's better to have a heavy science/ non-science course load. you have the mcat to study for. don't be foolish. screw the scant improvement and aim for a high mcat score.

okay i want to strangle my roomate right now

he keeps telling me not to bother with being an MD and just be a DO

cause i will end up in Family Practice anyways.

ass.

if it was me: if i had to take another biology course..i'd vomit. i'm registered for 4 science classes next semester..but dropping it to 3. on the other hand, survey of human diseases sounds like a macro view so it can't be that bad

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm dropping the class, taking a break and studying for MCAT. 🙂 MCAT and my sanity is more important. I can take the next 3 weeks and get back in the groove as I have a horrible semester coming up.

Type A - I want to take it for teh gpa but if I can do THAT much more studying and do better on the MCAT, that will help me more than just the .015 gpa. Also I got to look at the course material and its all stuff that I've basically gone over in my 2 micro classes, or will have my virology class and my immuno class this semester. Just basic stuff.

Thanks for you input guys!! 😍

Oh and I think I got my first 4.0 EVER!!! 😍 The class I wasn't sure about I got an A!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we've all heard from people before about how its too hard to get into med school, blah blah blah. look, its your life... if you want to be an MD than screw it, you'll get there. just keep working for it lil. :luck: :luck: :luck:

OMG, my micro prof FAILED ME.

But here's the thing for the kids following along at home... I had a D w/o taking the final. There is no mathmatical way I failed that class. My TA said I had one of the highest grades on the final as well. That bastard did it on purpose. 😡

THAT SON OF A BITCH.

I'm not going to medical school. 🙁 What am I supposed to do?
