Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I so far have been able to resist.

I did start a new WoW character though which is super fun (an undead warlock). I named her Contagium. Have only taken her to level 7, which took a few hours. But then I realized that there is an entire guild named Contagium!! 🙁

Unfortunately you can't change their names. So I feel like I have to delete the whole character and start over with a different name. 🙁

Any cool undead warlock names would be appreciated. 😉

Haha, yeah I have extremely strong feelings about skyline for only having had it once. Once was enough. :laugh:

My dad got laid off from his job in Lincoln while I was doing residency interviews. He found a job in Cincy right before the match, and then I matched at Michigan (4-5 hrs away!) So it really ended up working out well for us, though we are far away from my brother and his family who are still in Nebraska. 🙁

man I need more productive days like this. so far today I've gotten an oil change for my car, stamps for my christmas cards, food for the work christmas party I'm going to tonight.. booze for a christmas present, and grabbed lunch at the bread company (panera for all you non-Loo-ers). wtf is wrong with me? now I'm on my way to get the car washed so she's all sparkly and pretty...

Hehe, any of you here call all soda "coke"? I don't get that one. How do you differentiate between coke meaning any type of bubbly, sugary drink and coke meaning Coca-cola. Do you actually have to order a coca-cola if that's what you want?

I have a friend who moved from here to Atlanta. I guess he went to a restaurant one day after he first moved there, ordered a Pepsi and the waitress looked at him like he had three heads! LOL

OMG - one of my classmates just got a really bad, really heavy HIV exposure during an autopsy. 😱 😱 :scared: :scared:

I feel SO BAD for him. He has to do prophylaxis and everything.

I have gotta be more careful - I have already gotten way too casual. What happened to him could totally have happened to me. This pt had an extremely high viral load too. Just an awful situation all the way around.

That's so scary beary. 🙁 I hope he will be okay. That kind of stuff really worries me about going into medicine.

How long does the virus live after a person has died? Or is it something that doesn't die?

Viruses are really weird. There's actually all kinds of debate if they are "alive" or not. But in terms of infection, their physical environment is much more important than the person being alive/or dead. So, moisture is very important. Like in this case, it was a blood exposure. So this person was only dead for approximately 12 hours, still very "wet" (sorry to get graphic), so certainly all the virus was still alive. If you spilled that same blood on the floor and it dried, and then you were exposed to it, it would be less infectious.

Life or death does matter to some extent in viral replication cycles, but so quickly after death it's pretty irrelevant unfortunately. 🙁 And this case is actually a nightmare all around because she had some unknown terrible organism due to her being immunocompromised from HIV.

I grew up with soda, but my parents grew up with pop. Now I live where my parents grew up and I say pop now, and my parents, in So. ILL for almost 30 years, say soda.

Ironic.

And in NZ, it was do you want a fizzy drink? (or fizz?)

it's Lagavulin Scotch for the bro. apparently it cannot be sold in OH anymore b/c the ETOH content is too high. therefore (per his best friend) it will make a perfect Christmas gift as he cannot buy it anymore.

unless maybe he were to drive to KY. but why on earth would anyone want to do that? :meanie:
