how's your studying going guys? are you freaking out? burned out?

this is our stress relief thread....or our group anxiety thread, whatever..... 😀

for those of you that have no idea what the mcat random threads are about, check out molly's explanation:

MollyMalone said:
It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

Awesome

They're pretty expensive though. My brother looked into getting one, but way too pricey.

How much did he find out they cost? I was trying to convince Mushy. She was saying like $5,000-$9,000 for it. Of course feeding it costs a lot...

I know for here in Florida, they require a license for that, which takes a 1 year of experience with these animals. Plus, you need a cage that like 20 feet x 20 feet (6m x 6m in your speak).

Actually, I goofed. He was looking at getting a Savannah, which is a cross between an African Serval and a domestic cat. I think those were close to $2000

He got a bengal instead

I have been so sleepy the past few days - like first trimester pregnant sleepy!! I know I can't be pregnant, otherwise I'd be freaking out.

😴 😴 😴

"You ARE the mother." - Maury

 That would be so awesome if they had a show like that. How could the mother deny going into labor and birthin'?

I know someone who used to have a Savannah cat. Yea, they're cheaper. Are they smaller?

Cool 👍 Does it act like any ole' cat?

No, she's a brat 😀 She's been known to steal any bread or meat....she actually opened up the bread drawer, so now they have to put a stick in the drawer handle to make sure it stays shut. She also fetches. They've also got two other much bigger cats, and she's the boss of them (i.e. she pushes them out of the way to get to the food first). They've been known to like water too. She doesn't jump into a sink full of water or anything, but she is very mesmerized by water running out of the tap  They're a neat breed

My co-resident on autopsy wears a little hat (like in the OR) during autopsies. It is hilarious. I'm like, what are you doing, making sure you don't contaminate the field?

That is AWESOME! 😀 I think cats are a lot smarter than what most people think. I wonder how much of a handful a Bengal TIGER would be. 😀

P.S. What's a bread drawer? 😕 I throw them in the fridge.

I need a shower SO BADLY.

And... my fleece smells like the morgue. :barf:

I think I need a specific morgue fleece. (We keep it cold in there since we really work up a sweat when we're doing a case, but when we're not working it is chilly).

Maybe the fleece that already smells like the morgue should be the morgue fleece and you can buy a new one to wear anywhere else. 🙂

Or you could just wear your white coat in the morgue. I know how much you love it! :meanie:

ok, first step: breathe. 🙂

here's what you do:

1) Log onto your account
2) From your dashboard, you can either click on the "Documents" tab, or click "Add documents to your portfolio" from the middle of the page.
3) Under "document type", select "Letter of Recommendation"
4) Add in your own Document Title (something like "Letter of Rec from Dr. X"
5) Change the "Document Format" to "Send Later"
6) Click "Add this Document ->"
7) When the next page comes up, click the "I waive my right of access" on the confidential side (you don't HAVE to waive your right, but it's usually better to go with confidential).
8) When you click that button, a window will pop up (make sure your pop-ups aren't blocked by your internet browser settings). Print the PDF confidentiality waiver that comes up and also save a copy. You can then email this to your prof (or snail mail it...whatever you prefer). It contains all the instructions your prof needs for any of the three options to send his/her letter in (mail, fax, or electronic upload).

One of my profs did the electronic upload, and it was quick and painless (she did have to set up an account with them, but it's pretty straightforward). Another one of my recommenders mailed in the confidentiality form with her letter. Either way is fine.

Let me know if you need more info. :luck:

👍 what she said.

It was actually much easier than I expected it to be, and the print-out gave her very good instructions on what to do. She did hers as electronic upload as well (I know b/c it says it on the file, not because I've talked to her)- which is interesting, b/c she'd never heard of Interfolio before I mentioned it. Hopefully she'll be able to use it for others as well.

Go Blue!

(not talking sports 😀 )

*hmmm.. starts rethinking the refusal to go out with Will.. this kid has potential...*

Anyone, anyone..... should I e-mail the prof I asked in Sep. to write a LOR? No word yet..

I went ahead and sent a gentle reminder to the prof.

I was going to say yes, but you got antsy and did it anyway. 😉

am i the lone dem in a forum full of pubs?
no, honey

btw - how are you feeling beary? Are you managing okay?

Hey, thanks for asking! Got a PICC line today (peripherally inserted central catheter). It's way up on the outside of my right arm (cephalic vein) and goes into my SVC. I was nervous about it but it was no biggie. Anyway, this way I can get really high doses of IV antibiotics, which is what I am doing right now. 🙂 Thank goodness for Wi-Fi. And, no more sticks!

Any news on your niece's impending arrival? 😉
