Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

Here's something funny and really cool. The guy who owns Chick Fil a bought the very last Ford Taurus that rolled off the Ford assembly line in Atlanta last month. I think his first store was opened right across from the plant in Atlanta, so he has an obsession with the Ford Taurus. He is going to display it at the company headquarters. Totally awesome, considering the Taurus was a beast of a seller....the last great American car.

Speaking of cars, I want my first "collectable" car to be the very FIRST year of the Taurus (I think 1986). I want one in mint condition and I just want to keep it forever. Some old guy has to have one stored in a garage somewhere

You guys are all crazy 😛 Not a fan of fords in my household. I never personally saw much in the ford taurus although it was the most popular car ever! Never owned one but we did have an osmobile! Now those are classic! The first talking car or something like that. :laugh: I got to keep the tape that came with the car.

Great news btw! I managed to find a student host that is willing to let me stay for 2 nights in San Francisco. That will save me alot of $$! 😍

We didn't have any autopsies today, thank God.

My co-HO did all the placentas. I will make it up to him (do all of them tomorrow or whenever). So fortunately I seem to have missed a day that was good to miss.

Those are the only three cars they have. The spare was originally my dad's, but then he bought a new one and let my brother and I drive the old one. I don't have a car on campus as parking is absolutely ridiculous and four of my five suitemates already have cars here. 😎

I opted for non-diamonds and a remodel of the kitchen for my engagement/wedding ring. I have Moissanites which have virtually similar properties to diamonds except a slight greenish hue certain lights. In the sun they are clear and shiny, and no one EVER knows the difference. My glorious kitchen means so much more. I love it so much more than the bachelor-kitchen it used to me before we were married. (My husband has owned this house for 10 years).

Now we are having professional painters re-paint the kitchen, laundry, foyer, hall, and living/dining room. Next week we'll be getting new flooring in the living/dining and finishing up the paint. After the paint dries and floors are in, we are getting new LR furniture, too.

MUCH better than a stupid ring. (We have our 1-year anniverary in a few weeks)

I have never been to UAB but have worked with tons of alums from the MSTP there (there is like a UAB-Iowa pipeline, seriously). Extremely smart folks who have nothing but good things to say about the program. I have an extremely favorable impression of it.

Way to go girl! 😀

I agree. Rings are a bad value and if I had a house, I would much rather invest in that since it actually goes UP in value and not DOWN

Especially where I live. Even with the lull, houses are still outrageously expensive.

I did get a diamond from my mom last week for my 30th birthday. It was her mother's engagement ring that she had re-set into a necklace. She used to wear it, but gave it to me on my "golden birthday" as the start of a family heirloom.

I love it!

awesome! I say go for Monday...but that's just me. No real logic there. I have two sets of dates to choose from (btw, they're paying for EVERYTHING...hotel & flight, so i'm pumped!): Dec. 12-14 (tues through thurs) or Dec. 13-15 (wed through fri). Either way i'm going to have to take 3 days off work, but that's not a big deal. I'm thinking Wed-Fri makes more sense. Any thoughts?

i still haven't heard back from REL about my committee letter (which was sent back in August)...hopefully he will get back soon. My family friend finally finished (whoa alliteration!) my character letter, and the other one is already in to interfolio, so hopefully i can send those out early next week and then i'll finally be complete at USF.

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! If you take the T-R interview, do you go back to work on Friday or will you take that day off? If the latter, I say go for T-R so you can rest after it. If not, go for W-F so you have just the weekend after that. That's just me. 😀
