🙂 It was a lot of fun. We still have a ways to catch up to the U's 5 football and 4 baseball championships. How's school?

😎

i was soooooooooo stressed this last week of surgery but im done! i start neuro monday. dude, on tuesday i had to work out my senior schedule, attend some training session to teach cardiology to first years, Thursday were my oral exams and Friday was the shelf exam. for a few days there i was seriously freaking out but all is good with the world now. i did great on my orals and as far as the shelf is concerned, hell we'll see when the scores come back in 4 weeks but at least i dont have to think about surgery for at least another 4 weeks.

Not a fan of surgery I see.

Man...time is flying. I remember seeing your sig when you first started and now you're slashing through that schedule. Excited about neuro?

yeah i know, it'll fly even faster now because from now until i graduate from med school all my rotations are only going to be 2-4 weeks long. not the 6-8 wk long rotations ive been taking until now.

as for being excited for neuro, yes and no. yes in that a couple of situations have come up this year where my residents have asked me to do neuro exams on my patients and i felt like a total idiot trying to remember it from first year. so picking up those skills now makes me happy. the no part is that i really had trouble with neuro as a first year, i really didnt like it and had to seriously force myself to learn it. (which is why i put it at the end of 3rd year)

i have returned randomites......

hi guys!!!!!!

ha, that banana smiley is awesome.

Ha! So is EM the way you think you are heading as far as residency since I gather you don't like surgery then 90% of the sane population do for its bad hours and stressful nature??

Oh and welcome back!!!! We missed you!! I'm sure you rocked the shelf.

Dude WILL YOUR AVATAR ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL! You almost tempted me into changing my avatar so people would think "wtf is she thinking?"

To this one 🙂

awesome avatar
i definitely want to get a manual car

Manual is fun. It's what I got as well as my brother. Driving an auto feels so weird and detached...

P.S. Hopefully one day I can see an ultrasound of my kid and it's practicing driving a car. 🙂

HA - I love family guy but that avatar creeps me out.

So I've been being crafty recently

(ie. refinishing a table for my apt, doing some wall paintings, etc)

Anyway - I finally got around to trying knitting and I think I've got the hang of it. It's not beautiful (or even very even) but pretty good for my first shot.
My dad said it might help with surgery rotation later on because it'll improve my manual dexterity ( I don't know about that) What do you guys think?

I think my dad's just secretly hoping any interest I show in that arena means I'm interested in surgery 😉

hmm..improve manual dexterity by playing a lot of operation 😀

The only problem I may have with manual is the fact that I live in ny and well there's a lot of traffic here 😳

Off to the morgue - please please please no autopsies today!

I hope no one dies today! At least not under suspicious circumstances

I've seen those needles for knitting in the round - pretty coool looking! 🙂 I'd need to figure out how to cast them on. I figure it works about the same way but there must be some stitch to link the first and the last unless you just go from casting to knitting when you get back around.

I knit, too! Well, I used to, until the MCAT came around...👎 I haven't picked up my needles for 4 months now, but I'm hoping that come June/July I'll have a bit more time for it. I actually picked up knitting when I was unemployed for a month and didn't have internet at home - you simply don't know what to do with your life anymore. I was working on this red hooded shawl from Nicky Epstein's "Knitting Beyond the Edge..." Very pretty, but it's HUGE (something like 68 inches long and 40 wide), so I probably won't finish it till winter comes around anyway.

I knew laundry was a bad idea. Our washing machine flooded part of our upstairs. 😡 The insurance guys will come out tomorrow, so I have no idea what kind of damage there is yet, but it seeped through to downstairs as well.

+pity+ This has not been a good week.

Sorry to hear!!!!

you can do the same way you cast on with regular knitting, and to join them you add and extra loop, and knit that one and the first loop together. once it's joined together, it's knit stitch the whole way around!

if you want a bit of stretch, there's a specific cast on method... cable cast on is what it's called.

http://www.knitting-and.com/knitting/patterns/hats/london-beanie.htm - here's a link to an easy hat project. the color changes aren't bad. I've made tons of hats!

www.knitty.com - another place for good knitting projects!

http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer05/FEATsum05TT.html - talks about cable cast on

So sorry oxeye. 🙁 😍

Forgive our absence guju, some of us are still recovering from the weekend.

(Twin, wtf? I was looking forward to a good tongue lashing and you have to go and turn your phone off.)

Ohh that's right, I totally forgot this was WashU weekend.

And I was sick...that's a valid excuse, isn't it? Sore throat, earache, muscle aches and chills. This sucks!!

/end pity party

We just want to put some blue carpet, white pillars and gold curtain rods up at Les Bos!

I'm pretty sure pingouin is diligently studying for her orgo exam (which we should all send happy thoughts her way), but I wanted to say what fun we had this weekend with Durden and Tee.

They're good people!

And I'm really looking forward to the OPM conference now. Not so much for the conference, but for the peeps.

I don't know about pingouin, but the looming MCAT and rest of the semester are pretty much cramping my style as far as having fun goes. It's always in the back of my mind right now :scared:

SOOO glad OPM is after the MCAT!

Ana - did you take down your myspace page?

Yeah - I never checked it so I just got rid of it. I still have facebook though 🙂 Congrats on being the first to notice 😉

I cable cast on everything  It's the only cast on method I can do!

(Twin, wtf? I was looking forward to a good tongue lashing and you have to go and turn your phone off.)

Oh I'll give you a good tongue lashing :meanie:

Yeah - sorry about that. I called Penguin later that night when I finally woke up (passed out after the 5k). BTW, you sound just like one of my old roomies. I was like, "WTF? How does Penguin know Ian?! Oh wait..."

We just want to put some blue carpet, white pillars and gold curtain rods up at Les Bos!

Living where I do, I'm almost ashamed to admit I laughed at the "I wrote my essay" part.

I'm well aware. Do all of those threads still appear? I tried to hide them using my advisor powers but I'm not sure what the regular users still see.
nope, crisis resolved. The threads dont show up anymore. Good job admins

OMG - I'm NEVER going to dye my hair at home again. 😱 Salons only from now on. 🙁

Hopefully it won't look so bad in the morning. I've already shampooed it 6 times, once with dish soap and it's still soooooo dark. 😳
