Did I tell you guys that a spot opened up for my 3.5 year old at the university daycare? I was thrilled because everyone raves about it. I checked it out this morning and I was not that impressed. So I'm going to keep them both on the waiting list at the place in town I really like.

I'm debating daycare vs. a nanny, though. I definitely need a nanny third-year with my unpredictable schedule (and 12 weeks doing rotations on the opposite end of the state). I'm wondering if I should just go with a nanny from the get-go. It's a bit more expensive than two in daycare fulltime but the convenience might be nice. But then I worry that my kids won't get the preschool experience. There's no way we can afford a nanny and part-time preschool.

I think a daycare will give them time to socially interact with other kids their age. That might be a good thing. 😛

There are other reasons, though, why I don't like the idea of nannies.

Anyhow, good luck with your decicions.

Can't wait!

Oh and beary I'm scheduled to revisit Michigan. Once I buy my plane tickets it will be official 🙂

Boy, that's a tough decision. 🙁 Many med students and especially residents I know go the nanny route because of the flexibility. My understanding is day care requires you to pick up your kids pronto at a certain time which will be impossible for you (but maybe your hubby could do it, I don't know).

What does the statistician do in WoW?

There's this player vs. player points system (called "arena") and it is totally unclear from WoW how the 2x2, 3x3, 5x5 points etc. work out. People have been making excel spreadsheets, etc., but none of us can figure it out. 😳

If you don't mind sharing, I'm very curious. I'm having the hardest time making this decision and want to know all potential pros and cons.

You're welcome to PM me if you don't want to post publicly about it. 🙂

You need to start playing WoW! Our guild needs a statistician. (Seriously, I'm not kidding).
LOLOL - not sure how much help I'd be when I haven't used my degree for over 4 years now. 😉

BTW - I got your IM yesterday, I had the computer on but wasn't there. 🙁 Sorry we didn't get to chat!

Yeah, I definitely need the nanny by third year. Surgery and OB/GYN rotations are at the big hospital on the other end of the state, there's a rural rotation 4th year, plus the weird hours 3rd and 4th year in general. The daycare closes at 6PM, hubby works until 7PM so a nanny will be a must.

1st and 2nd year, most days end at 5 or earlier (a couple at 5:30 but those seem few). I'll have plenty of time to get to the daycare before 6. 🙂 But a nanny would be easier for sure, but for a price. Daycare for the 2 kids is going to run $15k/year, a nanny would be $20-25k minimum (and that's part-time). So we'll see.

hmm.. that was not on the agenda today. (I do have to be at work at 5pm. Until 7. Rough day.)

However, I had a friend in crisis this weekend and baked for her, and let me just say- I :biglove: my new oven! DAMN those cookies turned out nice! I was going to go grocery shopping today... get your order in now if you want some. I can probably manage it later this week.
do you use silpat? that stuff ROCKS for making the best baked goods.

nooooooooo... tell me more!!!!
silpat is great! it's a silicon-coated sheet that you put in the bottom of your baking sheet that creates an even surface on which to bake your cookies/cakes/etc. it helps to create an even flow of heat underneath the cookies so they don't burn, and it's easy to wash after you're done. they come in all sorts of sizes...here's an example:

usually you can find them at any cooking/baking products store.

Uh oh Tee, we better watch ourselves this weekend. :scared:

However, it's a whole different situation when we're just hanging with certain delicate females (who shall remain nameless)....

"delicate" 😆 😆 😆 *snorts wine out her nose* 😆 😆 😆

oh yeah- I've seen those before. I only have 2 decent cookie sheets right now- one cheapie but goodie from IKEA and then one of those air bake ones that's a little thicker and circulates the air under the baking surface. and my primary brownie pan is a stoneware 9x13 from The Pampered Chef. 👍

you do realize there's a fair amount of walking outside on that tour.....

according to the Wash U thread in Allo, y'all will be viewing the game from a nicely-covered party box

Ok I hope they can let people switch to the Cards game then...

I remember the old TMNT show that used to come on USA when I was little. That was an all time favorite.
