Oh man I had my first Wii accident today.....did a backhand swing into a lightbulb in the ceiling fan, YAY! I shattered that thing into pieces....the back of my hand HURTS....

thanks nikki, apparently im competent for internal medicine.... scary thought considering i feel as if i know nothing. :laugh: the field of IM is just soooooo broad, its scary sometimes. those residents definitely have my respect, they know soooooooo much about everything.

im doing well nik, today was my first day off from the hospital in 2 weeks. since march 3rd to be exact. i have to be back there tomorrow for rounds but only from about 530am-730am. just to gather our patients vitals and help the intern write the progress notes on everyone. then i have the rest of the day to clean my apt, go grocery shopping and read a little about pedi surgery before starting on monday.

ok so i'm driving home and some (i'm assuming drunken) kid runs RIGHT OUT in front of my car--i mean i was going like 50 mph.....i had to madly swerve to miss him...THANK GOD i didn't hit him--i was shaking so bad

wow, tee you were lucky you didnt cut up any tendons in your hand or anything. it always makes me laugh when people in movies start punching out car windows and stuff with their fists and they dont even get a scratch. in real life most people that tried that would at least cut up their hand and at worse mess up some tendons.

i wonder what the legal repercussions would be if you hit him... if he was drunk. Well, thank God you didn't hit him. :scared:

i punch with the heel of my hand most of the time... that would tear some stuff up....

actually i had a resident telling me that she feels like she knows nothing. so i guess it just gonna take a long time to get that confidence. i'm glad you had the day off......ugh i hate grocery shopping--especially when the old ppl get in my way 😛

in miami we get sooooooooooooo many PHBC's its sick. PHBC = pedestrian hit by car, thats the code they use on our trauma pagers to let us know whats coming in. i saw so many of them during my month on trauma here. how some people can just hit someone and then drive off without calling 911 or anything is beyond me, they just leave them there for dead. we actually had an elderly woman struck by a hit a run driver recently, she died on the OR table.

WOW Nik! That must have been scary! I hate the whole car v. drunk ped thing. Well, the whole car v. ped thing scares the crud outta me. Thank God nothing happened...well, other than a few dropped beats.

i know--and when i looked in my rearview mirror i saw his friend running across....thankfully there were no cars coming.


i don't know what the legal repercussions would be....but i'm pretty sure i wouldn't be going to med school

seriously PW, if i ever hit anyone with my car i could at least live with myself after the accident if i tried my best to get this person some help but to just leave them for dead in the middle of the street...... 🙁

listen to me.....when my mom was little someone hit her and drove away.....hit a CHILD and drove away!! so many broken bones....long recovery...had to learn to walk all over again.

my best friend from high school got killed in a hit and run PHBC in NYC... drunk driver and they found him later that night. 15 years in prison

I ran over a snake..lengthwise. I had my permit. Um, well, my dad just laughed so hard he couldn't get worried about me hitting anyONE. He kept saying what precision I had. LOL!

I'm so sorry UMP. That is terrible. I had a friend who was killed in a car accident a few years ago involving a drunk driver, but nothing like that. Horrible.

I personally believe that drunk drivers who kill should be sentenced according to the laws governing voluntary manslaughter. In my opinion, that is what it is. VOLUNTARY.

it's a hard topic for me... we were both huge drinkers ourselves. And we drank and drove, too. That kind of crap really opens up your eyes. (I just realized that it was St. Pat's weekend three years ago when he died 🙁 )
