i use access at work. i'm certainly not great at it, but maybe i can help.

basically what you can do (without doing any SQL coding) is the following (note: requires two queries...if you have to do it in one, i can't really help you there):
Set up one query that groups your variable in its unique elements, and then set up a second query that counts the number of elements in that first query.
i'm sure there's a more efficient way, but that's what i figured out for now.
That's exactly what I did. Although it would have been efficient to just do the sql I suck at it.

Here is my one (wait, this is actually my second!) post for the day. Anatomy exam today and Chem exam tomorrow. :barf: Serious cramming for the Chem exam considering I thought it was a quiz until YESTERDAY! WTF???? 😱

Have good one peeps.

Oooo suck!! Good luck, :luck:

So I think I'm going to cut my hair. What do you guys think of this cut.

Currently my hair is mid-back and it's getting really frustratingly long again.

Very cute!!

I need to get my hair cut too. That's one thing I hate about short hair - you can't go as long between cuts as you can with long hair.

I'm lucky - if I get layers like that I can usually let it grow and it still looks nice (lots of wave in my hair) but unfortunately I think that'll stop once I move to Houston. In Houston, "nice wave" will become "unmanagable frizz"

OMFG, WTF!

I got an email from WashU today. Here's an excerpt:

"I am reviewing the AAMC Acceptance Report, and am very impressed by the list of acceptances you as a group are holding. Congratulations to everyone on this achievement! Now comes the tough part: figuring out which program is right for you. The good new is that you cannot go wrong in you choice."

Wait a second, let's re-read:

damn. I foresee a wave of panic in pre-allo happening because of this.

I guess AAMC is releasing it earlier? 😕

Yes it is March so they are able to see where you got in before May 15th. Mr. Larkin aka REL posted in preallo some time back that adcoms are able to see where you have been accepted starting in March not May. Please PM him or LizzyM if you'd like to know more.

I was going to suggest he post it in pre-allo and watch the hilarity ensue. Is it really THAT big a deal?!? 😕

It is because the schools I'm waiting on can see where we got accepted. You know, I'm still waiting on schools, unlike some Vin bunnies :d

So far my "vacation" has been pretty awesome. It may be peon stuff to hold retractors and snip sutures, but it's great to get my hands dirty.

Today we just had one case - a recurrent hernia on some woman that was poking through again. It ended up being a 3.5 hour case because she also ended up having a small hole in her small intestine (thin membrane that ruptured when we were getting to the peritoneum) that needed to be repaired as well.

No office hours this afternoon so we were done at 1pm. Tomorrow will be longer with a uro case and something else (but I don't know what) on the board.

This surgery gig here is pretty sweet. Outside of emergencies, typical day is 7-7:30am to 12-1pm for OR, then office hours 1-5pm (M, W, F). A lot of hernias, lap choles, lap appys, and colonoscopies. He (the surgeon) keeps trying to talk me into gen. surg. If I was guaranteed a job here, that would be sweet with the hours! 😉

Anyway, I need to get back to MCAT study. I haven't started on week 3 of EK yet, so I need to get moving.

Yeah...that's how our prof said to do it after we turned it in. If only I hadn't procrastinated, you would have been my savior. 🙂

Just don't go posting that in the preallo boards or the ethic police will be snapping at you talking about how they don't want to attend a hospital because the premeds were helping in basic tasks.

Hey - I'm taking your advice and withdrawing from all my acceptances.

J/K
Hope the stress is better.

But for you and Mushy: There's actually a pretty interesting BSG convo going on in the PA Texas thread.
My picks for the final five:

Chief, Starbuck, Roslyn's asst., Starbuck's Ex, and Tigh.

Didn't mean to imply that I'm freaking out. It's a LOT of work but things are manageable. 🙂

And may I take it that you haven't decided on Baylor yet??? 🙄

Let 'em moan. There's nothing unethical about it at all! It's not like I didn't scrub in or did the whole surgery.

But yeah, I stay away from the Thunderdome. How can you reason with 20-year-old know-it-alls?

The ones hearing the music, right? That's almost alittle too obvious - running the risk of being a lame plot twist. Who knows, though 😉

And no, I haven't decided. Still waiting to hear back about finaid and I'm going to visit next Monday & Tuesday to take a second look at both.

Oh and TR is a badass 😍

That she is. That she is. 🙂

I dunno. Maybe it's obvious to us about them possibly being cylons. But still, wouldn't it be crazy if they were???

Cats + Computers = Bad.

I just cleaned out the fans on my laptop and found all kinds of cat hair and dust. Runs much faster and quieter now.

I bet that's why my laptop started souding funny too. Never thought of that!

You would look awesome with this cut. I mean, you look awesome, but it would look great too. Whatever. Yes, I like.

Trueeeee!!!! I always crack up when I see premeds make those comments about ethical issues of aiding in minor tasks when shadowing. They let people do that stuff here in USF all the time when you shadow the surgeons. At least they let my friends do sutures and what not in derm and surgery depts.

They let us do some stuff at ROR USF peds program when shadowing the pediatricians as well. I was supposed to go today but my shoes dug into my heels and I started bleeding that I had to rush home and clean it up and then was running late so I figured I'd start next week.
