Our lovely Randames.

YESSSS!!!!!! 1 rec letter down! The prof in my major agreed to write me one....however, she won't be able to do it till mid-August, since she's going out of town, but I told her it was fine. It's gonna take me a while to get all the secondaries in anyway, and besides, I don't think there are too many schools that had the explicit requirement about a letter from someone in my major, so this won't even be an issue for the majority of the places I'm applying to.

I'm gonna call the physics guy now....I e-mailed him last Monday and still no reply, so I gotta call there and maybe someone can tell me what's up - he might be on sabbatical for all I know, lol. That would suck!

yay! Yeah, i'm thinking the same with secondaries. They'll be in by the deadlines, which will give my profs plenty of time to write in Aug.

I wanna look too! Thanks for the warning tho. 🙁 I'll check it out at 5 😉
Only look if you like seeing really trashy pregnant women with huge silicone breasts naked.👍 Or if you want to lose your sight, forever.👎

See, another perk of being unemployed...I can look at NSFW pix at 1 PM.:meanie:

OK, I called the physics prof, no answer....so I just left a message. There was nothing on the website about him being on sabbatical or anything like that, so I hope I'll have some response in the next couple of weeks.:scared:

*crossing fingers jochi*
*I will, Funk🙂*

Is the general consensus that i'll be okay waiting to get my letters til Aug? I know that's sorta late.. but deadlines for my secondaries are going to be late Nov/early Dec... so as long as i get everything in by Sept for secondaries, that's still fairly early huh??

I have one science prof that would write for me today, and plenty of other people to do the non-science letter (including MDs that have graduated from most of the schools I'm applying to) but I really need to wait til Aug/early Sept for the other one... :scared:

Oh, yay! I got that knitting book I ordered from Amazon! "Victorian Lace Today."😍

Time to go get some yarn!:meanie: There's this cute scarf I'm gonna knit...I do have a huge project I'm working on now, but it's gotten too big for me to reasonably bring on the plane, so I wanted to get some sort of small scarf done, that I could get over with in 2 weeks.

jochi, you like to knit? i love it. i'm not that good...but recently i've branched out from scarves to some slightly harder things like mittens and even a phone case i knitted for my new cell phone.

...you are not asking your advisor for one, are you?

H*** no. For one thing, he doesn't teach my pre-reqs (he's a psych professor... dont ask). I'm actually asking the OTHER pre-med advisor..hahaha... who's really nice and would probably go ahead and write for me.. but i haven't had him for class yet, so i'd like to start class with him before i ask 😉

at least your school has more than 1 pre health advisor
we only get one so we all have to be nice to him or else we're screwed 😳

Sweet....I'm not big on mittens, hats, and socks, and stuff, but I like sweaters and shawls/lacy scarves....here's what I've been working on for months:

(can't wait to make that edging...:meanie:)

It's supposed to be roughly 30x66", right now it's just about 30x25"....still a few months to go. I figure I'll get it done by September/October, just in time for the cold weather!

I like challenging stitching, so lace, complicated cables, and such work well for me.

And this is what I will be knitting during my trip to Russia...gonna go look for yarn and needles today. I have needles in that size, but they are steel, so they might not allow them on the plane.🙄 I can just see myself, going on a rampage there with a 9-inch knitting needle....🙄 So gotta waste $10 on bamboo ones, and those are hard to come by in size 3.

Haven't decided on a color yet....I'll see what they have at the store.

Gosh, I haven't knitted in so long... I wish I had the time... or made the time.
Yeah, I took like 4 months off during my MCAT studies, but decided to restart now before I entirely forget everything. I need some sort of creative outlet!

My aunt in India knits purses and small cell phone purses. They look cute.

No one in my family is into crafts for some reason....my mother used to sew and knit back in the Soviet days b/c it was so hard to find decent clothing, but she hasn't done it for a long time now.

I've got a sewing machine sitting around, but it's like my worst enemy - I just can't figure it out for the life of me.

The advisor finally received that letter that my physics professor was suppose to write. I hope he didnt write me a bad recommendation or anything because I was so persistent. 😳

Looks like all my letters of rec are in place. Now it's time for secondaries! 😎

:luck:👍

Aaahhh, we're going on approval for all group O red cells because our supplies are so low - thank goodness I only have the pager for another half hour!

Back to physics....gahhhh.

My study manual comes with a week-by-week schedule, and so far I've gotten through the first 1.5 weeks today. Once I finish the section I'm gonna read now, I'll be done with the first 2 "weeks." However, their weekly schedule is based on a 22-week class, and I have just under 11 weeks, so I already have to go at double the pace, if not faster.

OMG!!!! I just stopped by the cat shelter where I volunteer to sign up for a few shifts...I hadn't been there in 2 months, and now the place is filled with kittens! There were all these adorable little pranksters crawling all over the place with their ratty little tails! So cute!😍Stupid me forgot to bring a camera, but I'll go there again tomorrow and document the cuteness!😍
