Hmm, I thought you were working on your master's now? Or is it just a 1-year master's?
I'm working on getting a master's lined up. It's kind of a pain, though...the program I like best is at U of Saskatchewan, and they said they won't require me to finish my BSc, which saves me like 7 courses, so quite a bit of time and money. However, this means I have to move (huge PITA), and the worst part is that I lose my AB residency, but don't gain Sask residency...so my chances of getting in if I apply in my 2nd year of MSc are really low, because I only have the Ontario schools going for me, since they have no residency preference.
The other big downside is that they "suggest" an 85% average for admission (this, however, also guarantees you full financial support). 85% in Canada is the cutoff between A- and an A, so it's a damn high average! Higher than most med schools. I'm not even sure if my grades are good enough, especially since my transcripts are all in GPA, as opposed to percentages. So my 79.5% in physics would convert to a 3.45 average on a percentage/GPA scale, but since my school only posts GPA on the transcript, it means just 3.3...frustrating! I'm not even gonna talk about my US transcripts....my 3.5 GPA is like 90%, technically, since that's the border between B+ and A- on our US scale! I'm hoping I'd get my registrar to send a letter stating the percentages, and that they'd take it into consideration at U Sask when converting my GPA to their percentage system.
Why do I have to be interested in the one MSc program that requires a ridiculous GPA? I know people with 2.8 undergrad GPAs who are doing master's, why do I have to have a 3.85!? LOL, this sucks...👎 🙄
