I wish I could enjoy my weekend like "normal" folks do after a big test. 🙁

I just finished a very tough unit final, but instead of spending time relaxing from all the hard work, I will be preparing for a practical exam on Tuesday. It's kind of a killjoy. Ah well, that's medical school for you...the rare hint of a breather, then back to drowning in high seas.

Thanks for helping me stay focused, pingouin. That PH was just what I needed. 😳

It was a tough final. I hope I passed. :scared:

I thought SDN wasn't doing post-holds for non-infraction issues anymore? I had a request denied months ago when I really needed to buckle down on the MCAT and that's what I was told.

I don't really know much about PHing for non-infraction issues, Meg. You'd have to ask an admin about global policy and precedent directly related to your situation.

I didn't mean anything against you SM, you're cool 🙂

It's just frustrating b/c I've gotten attitude from some mods in the past and when I see a double standard it rubs me the wrong way 🙁

Thanks SM. It's just a cold/sinus/allergy/ thing. Unfortunately, I have pitiful lungs so at the first cough I end up on the nebulizer. 🙁

Ugh, sorry to hear that. 🙁 I have allergies, but they just end up more of an annoyance. Blast that IgE-mediated hypersensitivity type I response.

What's everyone else up to this weekend?

Not having fun, that's for sure. I have a practical on Tuesday that I'm going to start studying for.

Mine's due to 34 days on a vent at 18 mos. Lungs haven't been the same since.

Finished my micro lab and got my schedule together for winter tri.. Looks like:
Cell Phys MWF 10:10-11:25
Organic I TR 8:00-10:00
Organic I Lab T 1:00-4:00
Phys II w/ Lab MW 2:40-5:30

and Grad: Drug & Alcohol Abuse Counseling T 5:55-9:45

Not bad. 👍 No free Fridays, but only one class, and free thursdays except for that early morning class, so not much change around here. I like.

To spare the gory details, I'll cut to the chase.

I've got this plane, and it's flyign at an angle 14.5 degrees W of N.

What way will I feel the wind blow if i'm atop the plane? (it's a somewhat strange question, I know, as I, personally, would NEVER be atop a plane... but... apparently my physics prof is thinking about riding atop a plane and he wants to know).

Anyone? (This is a 10 pt bonus on our midterm.. and considering I'm not understanding a whole lot right now, that's a ton of points!)

I'll take a stab.

Jet streams flow in a West to East direction (x-component only). The x-component velocity of the plane is -v cos(14.5). The negative sign arises since Cartesian Coordinates is being used. y-component velocity = v sin(14.5) = net y velocity

net x velocity = [-vcos(14.5)] + v of jet stream

Magnitude of net velocity the person on top of the plane feels = [(net x velocity)^2 + (net y velocity)^2]^1/2

direction felt = tan (theta) = (net y velocity)/(net x velocity). Solve for theta.

Edit: This solution assumes there is a jet stream flowing during the time of flight. There's no final numerical answer since jet stream and plane velocities aren't given.

you ROCK! 👍

Been drooling at University of Mississippi's website for the past hour or so... Hoping to feel the 😍 soon, so i'm boning up on my facts! 🙂
some med schools have poor looking websites where it looks like they havent updated it in a while.

Oh man, this sucks! I just got back from Calg...I couldn't find any place to stay! The cheapest place (and one of the 2 I found, second being $130) was $80, for a smoking room, and no internet, right by the freeway...it costs me $35 to drive back for the night and return in the morning, so it didn't make sense to pay $45 for a super-crappy room. So I had to drive back home for the night...5 hours of sleep, 5 hours behind the wheel, and 8 hours in the lab partnered with this super-dense nurse who needs help with everything = VERY cranky Jochi.🙄

Awww man... 👎

Hope tomorrow is a better day.

you ROCK! 👍
The question started bugging me the more I thought about it. If you've driven in a convertible with the top down, the direction your hair flows is opposite to that of travel direction along the x-axis. To be physically consistent with "feel" direction, I think a (-) sign needs to be placed in front of direction angle theta since the effect of "feeling the wind" is opposite to that of net (x/y) airplane velocity direction. Therefore, tan (-theta) = (net y velocity)/(net x velocity). You can check this by taking a hair strand and placing it in front of a running fan to simulate wind/jet stream. If you place the fan at the angle given in the problem, you'll observe the hair strand pointing towards the 4th quadrant of the Cartesian Coordinate.

brown dog went with her mom to the other grandma's house.

yellow dog was with me, just hanging out. 👍

we all went on a 3-mile walk for the American Heart Assn this morning, as part of the team for my brother's work. it was a good time, and a great cause.

And what a nice day for it, too!!!!

P.S. zipmedic told me you said hi 🙂

my vcu status page states that they're interested in me
but that's it

what a tease 😛

Did you get an update e-mail, Funk? When were you complete? I got the "complete" message on Sept. 4 and haven't heard back yet.

It's so time-consuming to keep tabs on all those med schools...worse than a cheating boyfriend.
